Four-dimensional RGB matrix, lighting effect with 389 LEDs. Three-stage adjustable leaf spring.
As a brand that has been navigating the high-end custom keyboard field for years, we understand that RGB has always been a controversial topic in the custom keyboard community. Some users prefer their keyboards to have more dazzling and unique RGB effects, while others believe that overly bright RGB can detract from the overall design aesthetic of the keyboard. Balancing these two preferences has always been a challenge.
Thus, we wondered if it would be possible to design a keyboard that could satisfy both of these distinct needs.
And so, the AM Neon 80 was born.
It draws inspiration from Synthwave and is presented in a Retro-futurism style.
When you turn on the RGB, it features a four-dimensional LED matrix lighting effect like nothing you’ve ever seen before, with powerful lighting that transports you to a cyberpunk future.
When you turn off the RGB, it showcases a very retro design, instantly reminding you of the simple aesthetics of the late 1980s.

Achieving that retro aesthetic of the board actually requires up-to-date, edgy technology.
We have to drill 3120 holes in the keyboard with a CNC machine, which is extremely difficult.
Let’s check out how Neon 80 were made.
We put 389 LEDs in the board as well. Including 230 LEDs on the front, 70 of them on the side and 89 in-switch LEDs.
This is a crazy challenge not only in the aspect of design but also in the aspect of electronic technique.
Neon 80, with a four-dimensional RGB Matrix Lighting Effect that is fully customizable. All you have to do is select an effect in our library and upload it to the board.
The algorithm in the smart chip will spread the effect to all four dimensions as well as the in-switch lights and deliver an overall, interactive effect to your board. And of course, you can always customize the effect to your own preferences.
Let’s check out more DIY effects made by our community!
Neon 80 will be the first keyboard from Angry Miao that only supports wired mode.
With 389 LEDs on it, the current can rise up to 12W. Even if we put in two 5000 mA battries in it, it still won’t be able provide a decent battery life.
We have no choice but to remove all the batteries. In the meantime, you will need a decent mainboard which supports a strong power supply to be able unleash its full protential.
Neon 80 has 10 levels of brightness. You will be able to turn on a higher level with stronger and more sustainable power supply. The keyboard will turn off the LEDs if power shortage occurs to secure the basic function of the board, typing.
We will also provide you with a 1.2 meter silicon cable. It’s a USB-C to USB-C cable, supports 480Mbps data transfer.
At the meantime, we will offer a customized Coiled Aviator Cable as an additional add-on. You can get one if you think the original cable is too plain.
Magnetic nameplate covers, exclusively designed for Neon 80.
– Pure copper plating
– four-core aviation plug
– Aluminum alloy CNC connector
– Handwoven single crystal copper wire
All of the features above make it more stable and durable.
We provide two different colorways,
Silvery white Cable
Grey Cable
With all the difficulties we came across with Neon 80, we still manage to put the adjustable leaf spring mount in it like all the other Angry Miao products. At the end of the day, typing experience is something that we don’t want to compromise.
Three-stage adjustable leaf spring mount will be able to provide 12 different typing combos, allowing users to fine-tune their typing experience to their exact liking, no matter hard or soft.
Without batteries and wireless charging pad, we were able to achieve an 18.5 mm front height with only 7 degrees of typing angle which will be more comfortable for daily use and gaming.
With an actuation force of 37gf and a bottom-out force of 45gf, the Ice Silver Pro provides a light and smooth typing feel, while managing a crisp and powerful rebound.
Compared to V1, which is known for its excellent RGB, smoothness, and sound profile, we opted for transparent PA12 nylon, which offers a slightly muffled sound, giving Icy Silver Pro V2 an even more thocky sound profile.
For the stem, we chose Y3 composite material. This allows us to achieve a friction coefficient of 0.04, which is almost 70% lower than POM and LY materials.
Neon 80 supports QMK and VIAL.
We developed a better version of the device center based on VIAL – AM Vialite.
It’s a quicker, more aesthetically pleasing, and more user-friendly app which is developed using more advanced cross-platform frameworks nowadays. It will perform better on win/mac platform. And it is applicable to all the keyboards that support QMK.
