As outdoor enthusiasts living along the breezy coast of Nova Scotia, we were inspired by the constant wind around us and set out to develop a product that would let us harness this unlimited power.

We spent almost five years designing, testing, and refining our idea to make wind power portable and accessible. In 2021, we launched the Shine Turbine on Kickstarter and reached our funding goal in just one hour! Five days later, our first production run of 500 turbines was sold out. Following this success, we launched on Indiegogo InDemand, where we received the incredible support of over 2,000 backers from 50 countries.

Nothing brings us more joy than having our customers share their amazing experiences of using the Shine Turbine out in the wild or at home for backup power. With these stories, we also heard from our community about ways we could improve the turbine, so we did.

After another 2 years of innovating, we’re launching Shine 2.0 based on your feedback. Orders shipped to the UK and Europe may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and/or fees imposed by the destination country. These charges are not included in our product price and are the buyer’s responsibility.

This amount can vary. Charges are based on the wind turbine cost or product price, type of item(s), package weight and dimensions, origin country, and the taxes, duties, and fees of the destination country.

For European backers, combined sales tax and duties charges may range from approx. €50 – €165 or  £44 – £140. Depending on your region, there may be an additional disbursement fee ranging from $0 – €13/£11. For more information, we encourage you to research your country’s import tax laws and rates/fees that may apply when purchasing our product(s).

If a product is seized by customs or returned to Canada, we will NOT be responsible for the loss, product, or shipping refund. It is the buyer’s responsibility to cover the shipping costs when the buyer wishes to have a second delivery attempt after the product is returned to Aurea Technologies.

Shine 2.0 is made with durability in mind. The turbine has been designed for 1,000+ hours of operation, which for its application, is expected to last at least five years.

Reusability and recyclability

Up to 85% of Shine’s parts are recyclable. For ease, we always recommend checking ahead to find out if your local electronics recycling program will accept Shine.

Sustainable materials

Our packaging is plastic-free and 100% recyclable. The box Shine 2.0 comes in is made of at least 85% certified post-consumer recycled paper.
