Some of those ingredients sound kind of funky. Are they? Not at all! They are all standard and safe to use, and this is what they do:

• Sodium Coco-Sulfate: derived from coconut oil, this is a surfactant with excellent cleaning power and known to give shampoo its consistency
• Limonene: extracted from the peels of oranges and other citrus fruits, this is a commonly used fragrance oil 
• Citronellol: found in roses and geraniums, this is a citrus-like fragrance used in personal care products
• Cetearyl Alcohol: a common component of cosmetic products which is used to create smooth creams and stable foams 
• Behentrimonium Chloride: derived from colza oils, this is a plant-based conditioner which detangles, moisturizes and strengthens hair
• Coco-caprylate: derived from coconut oils, this is a vegan emollient (which makes things creamy) for cosmetics
• Steareth-2: a common ingredient in personal care products, which helps everything stick together in the bar
• Sodium Lauryl-Sulfate: derived from coconut oil, this is a surfactant which helps create a nice lather
• Cetrimonium Methosulfate: a hair conditioner which aids in detangling
• Irisantheme: naturally found in brewers yeast, this is a common fragrance ingredient
• Lemonal: derived from lemongrass and lemon tea-tree, this is a citrus scent with anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties
• Quaternium-91: a hair conditioning agent
• Tartrazine: a food-grade yellow colouring
• Propylene Glycol: an effective humectant (attracts water to hair) which helps you nourish your hair
• Geraniol: found in roses in geraniums, this is commonly used as a fragrance in cosmetics
• Linalool: derived from lavender, this is a naturally-occurring scent 
• Benzyl Salicylate: a plant based naturally occurring floral fragrance
• Hexyl Cinnamal: found in chamomile, this is a commonly used fragrance in cosmetics

 We aren’t planning on stopping here! There are so many things in our day to day life that are unnecessarily wasteful and inconvenient. As a result, we already have a pipeline of other ideas for helping you live a more convenient life whilst being more environmentally friendly. In order to make sure that the ScrubsUp case is something that you buy once and that lasts for a lifetime, we have made sure to use long-lasting and resistant materials so you don’t have to worry about it breaking and leaving you without a way to ScrubUp!

Reusability and recyclability

By making the case out of recycled plastic we will be reducing global plastic waste on two fronts. First by helping people reduce the amount of plastic they are throwing away (by using a single shampoo bar you eliminate the waste of 3 plastic shampoo bottles). The second is by taking the plastic that people have already thrown out and giving it a new life and making the ScrubsUp case!

Risks & Challenges

Doing something new always involves some risks. That being said, we have spent a lot of time thinking about and mitigating the risks that could come our way. Be it from identifying various manufacturing partners to carrying out extensive testing and design reviews to make sure that our final design will work exactly as we want it to and, most importantly, for as long as we want it to!

Obviously, the current COVID-19 crisis continues to change and challenge the world in unexpected ways. We are aware that this could lead to some issues with getting the product in your hands-on time. Never the less we are reassured by the fact that even during the height of the COVID-19 crisis in the UK we still had clear and actionable paths to manufacture available. 

Overall, we want you, our backers, to rest assured that no matter what challenges get thrown our way we will resolve them and get you Scrubbing Up as soon as possible.
