A project celebrating the connection between Portobello Road and London’s most creative.

Story

Hello Indiegogo. Hi Indiegogo. Hey Indiegogo.

We are Chronicmedia.

Chronicmedia was set up in September 2020. The worst possible time in the history of society to start a digital media business. Literally! We have one clear vision:

To be the world’s epicentre of storytelling, creativity, and transparency!

Finding Portobello is our first big project founded by Andrew Curtin & Paul Anderson. Here is a picture of the two ugly ducklings:

P.S. Paul is the old guy.

So, what is Finding Portobello?

Finding Portobello is a project celebrating the connection between Portobello Road and London’s most creative. The project supports visionary artists, businesses, and organisations across multiple disciplines by exploring how Portobello Road became one of London’s epicentres of creativity & culture.

The project consists of a four-part docuseries, live event, podcast, and collaborative website. Through these platforms, influential musicians, photographers, artists, and more come together to share their story about this world-renowned street.

How did this project come about?

On the 13th of June 2020, Andrew Curtin and Paul Anderson met up for a coffee on Portobello Road, Notting Hill, West London.

After seeing the impact COVID-19 had on market traders, local businesses, and artists. They both realised that the area’s creative & cultural uniqueness was not publicised enough. After a few more coffees, the Finding Portobello project began to develop.

Oh yeah, the coffee wasn’t good, it was f**king great! ☕

What is Portobello Road known for?

Apologies if you already know this.

But, Portobello Road is a place where literally anything can happen. A place where rich, poor, immigrants, natives come together to form a tightly knitted community.  Some say it’s the Portobello Market,  some say it’s the music, and others say it’s the fashion that makes Portobello Road so special.

When you take a trip down memory lane and think of Portobello and think of its influences, you think of “The Mangrove Nine”,  a group of British black activists tried for inciting a riot at a 1970 protest against the police targeting of The Mangrove, a Caribbean restaurant in Notting Hill – just off Portobello Road. You think of Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, and Queen recording their album “News of the World “in 1977.

It’s a mash-up of cultivating history & culture, a secret sauce that is difficult to pinpoint its exact ingredients.

Risks & Challenges

The local authorities are fully supportive of our mission and goals in this area. Local businesses have come together to allow us to interview, film & post-produce any accurate content that helps promote the area.

Provided we hit at least our minimum raise on Indiegogo, we have the balance of funds required in the profitability of the business to launch as per our timeline. All funds raised over the minimum will just allow us to move faster, and welcome you guys in before the general public!
