LOGLINE: A nerdy 14-year-old boy suddenly gets the popularity he’s always wanted when a deceitful Artificial Intelligence makes him a social media sensation.

SYNOPSIS: In a 1980’s world, a 14-year-old computer nerd named Beckett O’Connell, is on a quest for popularity by becoming the next MeTubular™ sensation. With many failed attempts to create an audience with his video channel, Beckett becomes more and more desperate for the fame he seeks. 

One weekend, when Beckett’s parents go out of town and leave him and his older sister Maddie alone for the first time, Beckett and his best friend Jay, tirelessly search the web for answers. Just when they’re about to give up hope, Beckett accidentally stumbles across a site called Viral University and an Artificial Intelligence by the name of Mr. Viral who promises all the likes and views Beckett could ever want. 

Upon arriving to school the next day, Beckett finds out that his latest video has more than one million views. Beckett is finally becoming the Internet star he’s always wanted to be and rapidly gaining popularity among his peers. But he soon finds out that fame comes at a great cost and Mr. Viral is playing him like a puppet to win his soul. 

Just as Beckett is about to lose the friendships of those he cares for the most, he discovers Mr. Viral’s plan and realizes he is the one behind all the most famous MeTubular™ kid phenom influencers. With his wit, and with extreme caution, Beckett tries to figure out how to stop and destroy Mr. Viral and seeks out help from an underground (once famous) gamer by the name of “Samurai.” With the strategy of Samurai and his own tech intelligence, Beckett and his friends end up in an epic battle with Mr. Viral and his other Internet puppets to save his friends and ultimately win his soul back.

DID YOU KNOW that other actors like Judd Nelson and Emilio Estevez were in contention for the role of Billy Peltzer? But apparently Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates had such great chemistry it landed Galligan the role with Spielberg. 

DID YOU KNOW that the high school used for exterior shots for Weird Science was the same one used for Sixteen Candles? Yeah, they both used the same fictional town name “Shermer, Illinois” as well. 

DID YOU KNOW to keep the production of E.T. hush hush while shooting, they called the production, “A Boy’s Life?”

DID YOU KNOW that the original time machine for Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure was going to be a 1969 Chevy Van? But the filmmakers didn’t want people to think they were ripping off Back to the Future. 

DID YOU KNOW that the one studio executive wanted to rename Back to the Future, “Space Man from Pluto?” Apparently Spielberg sent a letter to the exec saying, “Thanks for the hilarious memo, we all got a big laugh out of it!” And that was the end of that. 

DID YOU KNOW  that apparently One-Eyed Willy’s skull was an actual human skull? Rumor has it the cast list for the film listed the skeleton of One-Eyed Willy was a man called Raul Woo, who died from lead poisoning.
