Dragons of Afterlands will take you to an exciting world where you will encounter dragons and other magical creatures in your quest to find legendary Dragon Eggs, restore harmony to Earth and save humanity.

Witness the board come to life through the use of Augmented Reality (AR) on your phone or tablet as you progress along intricately decorated realms, interact with the environments, vanquish monsters and cooperate and compete with other players to progress through the game.  

The result is a fantastic blend of traditional board game dynamics with an exciting digital world that will plunge you deep into a universe of suspended belief where reality and fiction blur. Vanquish the monsters, avoid deadly natural disasters and skilfully travel between realms to help the Dragon Witch and save the world!

With the world devastated by the climate crisis, humans live in the central neutral territory, with the rest of the world uninhabitable, struggling to survive in their limited territory. They are visited by a Dragon Witch, who promises brave adventurers exciting rewards and the power to restore harmony to Earth who help her raise her dragons. 

Adventurers must travel to the Dragon Realms to achieve their mission by completing storytelling challenges to win Dragon Eggs and help humanity survive. Guided by the avatar Dragon Witch, players use storytelling and roleplay to collaborate and compete to complete the challenges. These challenges help players develop communication and wellbeing skills associated with improving mental health. 

The first player to complete their Egg Mission, build wellbeing energy and make it back to the start wins! 

This is a 2-8 player game that offers a unique hybrid gameplay experience, combining physical elements such as the board, dice, cards and player tokens with virtual components that track player progress and bring life to the story and characters thanks to the versatility of technology.

• Set-out the board, player tokens, cards and other items 
• Download the Dragons of Afterlands app and create a game. Your friends can then join your game through the app
• See your player avatar magically appear through your phone on the board as your progress is tracked through the four magical Dragon Realms
• Complete personalised challenges with the help of a chosen ally, collecting Dragon Eggs and gaining Strength points. These challenges increase in difficulty across game sessions  
• Encounter a myriad of different characters, interacting with them both on-screen and on the board
• Guided by the Dragon Witch avatar, fight monsters, flee from natural disasters and navigate Opportunity & Threat scenarios to gain Strength Points and acquire Dragon Eggs

• An app (Android and iOS) – easy to download and install, the app manages all game mechanics, player tracking and scoring. By pointing your device towards the board, cards and player tokens, AR animations will appear on your screen, giving life to the realms, characters and battles.
• Physical components – beautifully produced and packaged, these serve as support for all 3D animations projected in Augmented Reality through your smartphone or tablet. These include:
  • the board, with AR animated realms, monsters, characters and player progression
  • the cards, displaying through AR the various Challenges and Opportunity/Threat scenarios
  • the player tokens, showing each player’s AR avatar and used to move on the board
  • the dice. 

Dragons of Afterlands has already come a long way, but we still have a lot of work to do to bring this game to its full potential. With your backing, we can take Dragons of Afterlands to the next level, pushing forwards with the next stages of development. 

Immediate goals – up to £50k

• Create and animate 3D models for dragons, monsters and environments
• Develop comprehensive bank of in-game challenges; these will be continuously added to over time
• Perfect automatic player tracking and event triggers
• Ensure high-quality UK-based production of all physical assets (board, cards, player tokens…)
• Launch game on Android and iOS

Stretch goals – £80k

• Create and animate additional 3D models of player character avatars
• Expand player personalisation features and customisation
• Introduce levelling-up features of environments, monsters and characters across game sessions
• Implement player performance feedback dashboard

• Create and expand quests, characters and challenges 
• Develop and implement speech-recognition and voice-activation technology to drive gameplay
