Help get this documentary over the finish line and in front of the fans
Why crowdfund? and why now?
Over the years I had heard many fans ask if Microdisney would ever reform. And they would be given short shrift: it was never going to happen. Everyone had moved on, formed new bands, gone on to other things….
It had become the stuff of legend: all I knew was I’d missed out as I was living abroad in the 80s. So when I heard that they were going to reform for one gig this was too good an opportunity to miss. As Producer/Director (BBC, C4, Discovery) and musician I knew I had to film this. It was a story that deserved to be told.
As a friend of the band, gaining access wouldn’t be a problem. Interviews were shot, rehearsals and gigs captured on camera…and now comes the hard bit: getting it finished. The documentary has been entirely self-funded up to now. I’ve leaned heavily on friends and contacts and I will forever be in their debt. But music and archive need to be cleared and paid for, along with post-production.
And that’s where you come in. This is your chance to help get the film finished. By contributing to this campaign you will help get it over the finish line and in front of audiences. You will also help make it the best it can be, which is what the band – and the loyal fans around the world – deserve.
Get involved
I am looking to raise £60,000 which will help pay for worldwide music clearance, archive and post production.
There is a range of rewards on offer. All donations are welcome. 100% of the money raised will go towards completing the film. Every little helps. Your contribution will make completion a step closer.
Donate today and help make the film a reality.
Rewards include band merchandise (T-shirts, tote bags, posters), hand-written lyrics, a special preview screening, a dvd/download and limited-edition vinyl. You can even have an Associate Producer credit.
The Impact
This is the film the fans have been waiting for. It is a celebration of one of the greatest songwriting partnerships in pop music and a band that 30 years on finally got the plaudits that eluded them back in the day.
As a TV producer/director for the major broadcasters, I have wide experience of storytelling for a range of audiences – UK and international. Unprecedented access has produced moments of honesty, humour, emotion and yes, wisdom.
Your money will help get this film through the final stages. Filming is (almost) complete but archive and music clearance have to be paid for, along with post production (editing, grading and audio mix).
