The amount of time spent cycling in bad weather differs, but we assert: Mudguards are just not needed on your bike all the time. Statistically more cycling gets done in fair weather rather than when the conditions are wet and muddy. But boy do you need some mudguards when the going gets rough. That’s why an easily installable, completely removable, reliable pair of mudguards that pack small make insane sense.

Musguard introduced its staple rollable mudguard in 2013. Back then it was all about fixed gear and urban cycling. The original model worked best on bikes with a classic geometry: paired seat stays and a brake bridge. As cycling trends changed and bicycle design evolved many bikes lost the bridge and dropped seat stays became standard.

After much thought, trial and error we managed to achieve the seemingly impossible: We made a 0.8 mm (0.03″) thin sheet of recycled Polypropylene remain sturdy and firm on different frame types. Not just while riding on smooth surfaces but loose, bumpy ones such as gravel, rocky single trails and dirt.

Beside packability, rolling is also key factor in Musguards stability.  Keeping your Musguards rolled when not in use helps retain a coiling tension in the material which makes the mudguards nice and straight once installed. The direction of the coiling tension (upward) eliminates the risk of the fender folding down and touching or getting caught in the wheel. Front and rear piece can even be rolled together for convenient packing or storage.

The rear Musguard Omni features a unique folding system and a revolutionary mount design which make it sturdy on it’s own. No need for support by a brake bridge or squeezing the fender between the seat stays. Swivel is prevented by two silicone coated hook and loop straps. This means it can even be mounted on bicycle seat post making it suitable for a wide variety of riding styles such as road, gravel, touring, packing, commuter, cyclocross, cargo, even MTB, if you don’t feel like getting dirty on the trail.

When it comes to mudguards the logic is pretty simple: the sooner you catch the spray from your wheels, the less dirty you get. Positioning Mudguards as close to the tyre as possible is of utmost importance.

We made great effort to source recycled material and manufacture our products locally. Our partner is a plastics processing facility right here in Slovenia (EU) compliant with EU environmental standards. As a material Polypropylene is a durable polymer with high recycling capacity.  We view plastic products sustainable only when intended for repetitive, long lasting use. Many first gen Musguards from our 2013 Kickstarter campaign are still in use to this day.

The rear Musgaurd Omni will be available in two width options  to best suit different tyre thicknesses. You will be able to choose your needed width in a survey sent to you after pledging.

Two durable silicone coated straps keep Musgauds  firmly attached to your bicycle. The fat, juicy silicone coat on the single component hook and loop strap will not let them move anywhere.  All you need to do is secure them TIGHT!

The rear Musguard Omni can be installed at two different angles. These options allow a perfect fit for different frame geometries. They enable the mudguard to be placed close to the tyre for optimal protection.

Musguard is a brainchild of Jurij Lozić, a pedalling industrial designer from Ljubljana, Slovenia. The same name company which was established following a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2013 grew into a nice little family run business and now caters to the global cycling community with very encouraging feedback.
