Keep your skis out of the car with the Chuck Bucket. Loading your gear has never been easier.

Story

The gear-hauling industry is full of roof-mounted solutions. That’s great, so long as you enjoy climbing up there after a long day on the slopes! And assuming you’re tall enough to reach it and have enough space for a roof box.

Meet Charles: an engineer by profession and skier by nature. Putting a box on the roof wasn’t working well for his family, and wet gear in the car taking up precious space was a drag. He knew there had to be another way, so he went to the drawing board and created The Chuck Bucket. It’s simple, easy to load, solidly built, and doesn’t break your back. Here’s why we love it:

Painless Loading For Everyone

Your kids, your short friends, your aging but still powder-loving grandmother can all load up just as easy at the end of the day.

Keeps Your Gear Safe

With your gear strapped tight, it doesn’t bang around or fly out of the bucket!

Haul a Lot of Skis, Boards, or Whatever You Want!

Skis in the winter, golf bags in the summer, 2X4s for DIY projects, the Chuck Bucket hauls it all.

Chuck Full of Features:

Bucket Tilts Back for Easy Trunk Access

Has clearance enough for all the vehicles we’ve tested so far, including a Mercedes Sprinter and a Chevy Tahoe.

It’s Easy To Tilt: Just push to relieve pressure, move the knob up, and voila!

There’s also a securing pin that keeps it from tilting at unwanted times.

Endless Strapping, Locking, and Securing Options

Your gear is precious, and so we let you strap it to the Chuck Bucket however you feel is best.

Bucks the Competition

Oh, and It Comes In Black

Stay classy.

Easy Swing Down Head

Tilts for easy storage/more garage clearance.

Easy Load Gate

Opens right up to load whatever you want.

Stores Easily

Comes apart, and, well, a bucket’s a bucket!

High Durometer Rubber Pad

Includes a removable rubber pad for extra protection. Also notice the drainage holes at each corner!

The Chuck Bucket Only Weighs Around 35 Lbs

Almost anyone can attach it to a 2” hitch and remove it.

It’s Completely Modular

Keep only what you need, modify as necessary, and store it easily. Future products will further increase the uses of the Bucket.

Keep It Simple

As any good scientist knows, the best solution is often the simplest. The Chuck Bucket is just that: the simplest and easiest way to haul your gear wherever you go. Armed with the Chuck Bucket and a thirst for adventure, you will leave no slope unconquered.

Product Timeline

Iterative Process

Charles here! Creating the Chuck Bucket was a blast, but it wasn’t an easy process: I started by bolting a 5 gallon bucket holder to a cheap bike rack and then iterated over a couple ski seasons.

Each time, I simplified the design and increased robustness. It had to be something that kept gear safe but made hauling it as easy as possible.

CAD drawings of the hitch and tilt mechanism, a later addition to the rack

After multiple design tests, materials, and a lot of feedback, we finally had a product that we felt was ready to launch. The final product is dead simple to use, easy to put on your vehicle, holds a ton, and makes you the coolest person in the parking lot.

That’s me! loading my skis into my friends van that now can actually fit the whole family and all the gear.

The Team

Charles McNall: (that’s me) Charles is a medical device engineer and serial entrepreneur. He has successfully launched multiple products including the CrownRoller Cycling Trainer on Kickstarter. He is a seasoned pro and knows the ins and outs of bringing a product to market.

James Linton: (that’s him) James is a class act business and marketing student and has success written all over him, figuratively. He has successfully run PR campaigns for sports teams and although we haven’t seen it, he is probably a crazy good dancer.
