Our love of simple, functional design inspired us to design a filter system that not only works better but looks good. 

No over-brewing: One-way valves seal off coffee grounds to prevent over-brewing.

No trapped grounds: A smooth surface makes cleaning simple and prevents trapped grounds. 

Clean brew: Filter holes are cut to 300 microns, the ideal size for French Press coffee – preventing sludge and sediment from getting into your coffee.

In 2020,  Zoey, Jeff, and I (Mia) found ourselves drinking excessive amounts of coffee while working from home. While we loved trying different brewing devices, we always found ourselves returning to the French Press (despite our love-hate relationship with it). It was during this time that Jeff and I started considering what the French Press could be with the right innovation. 

Why the CAPRA PRESS?

We wanted to design a French Press that took the guesswork out of brewing and the hassle out of cleaning.  

After countless sketches, CAD models, prototypes, and days of testing, we’ve developed a product that met our original vision.  By taking advantage of rapid prototyping, we’ve been able to iterate through multiple designs to ensure the CAPRA PRESS meets the high standards we set for ourselves when we began this project. 

The design evolved throughout the past couple of years but the core idea remained the same, design a coffeemaker that we’d want to use every day.

We will work directly with our manufacturer to fulfill the orders from our backers on Indiegogo. In accordance with Indiegogo Terms of Use, we will not offer refunds or returns for items unless there is a manufacturer defect or failure.  

Every CAPRA PRESS purchased comes with a lifetime warranty for any manufacturer defect so in the unlikely event that you receive a faulty unit, please contact hello@capramade.com and we will be happy to assist you. 

We know that coffee lovers aren’t limited to country borders so neither are our shipping options. With this in mind, please note that we will not be covering import taxes, duties, or other fees that may apply due to your local importation laws.

The CAPRA PRESS is ready for manufacturing. We have done multiple working iterations of the prototype to ensure that all critical and cosmetic problems have been remedied. Our final prototype has been examined by a team of engineers and machinists at Selkirk College to ensure the final iteration is ready for manufacturing and large-scale production. Regular in-production audits, inspections, and third-party quality control teams will ensure the highest quality in each unit prior to shipping. 

The main challenge in delivering the CAPRA PRESS is the increased costs and delays in international shipping with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, to mitigate this risk, our costing models have taken into consideration these elevated costs to ensure that all orders from our backers can be fulfilled. We have also made our delivery window conservative to factor in increased shipping times.
