A blind black rhino and his rescuers race against time to try and save his species from extinction.
When a black rhino is found behaving erratically, a team of rescuers makes a shocking discovery that has the power to alter the future of an entire species. Not only is the rhino completely blind and in need of protection, but he’s one of the last remaining rhinos of his sub-species due to rampant poaching. Now under the care of actress and conservationist Shannon Elizabeth and her Foundation, Munu needs your support to help save his species from extinction in South Africa. This is an inspiring true story of hope, bravery, immense love, and kindness—a story the world needs now more than ever.

This series follows the life of a lonely rhino as he goes from a daily battle of personal survival to fighting to save his entire sub-species. Shannon and her team are racing against time to keep Munu protected from poachers while they build him a sanctuary in South Africa and look for female rhinos that are compatible for mating. All the while, longtime conservationist Brett Barlow and Munu’s other caretakers are realizing their bond with Munu is unlike any they’ve experienced before—Munu recognizes his own name, follows them around, and we learn how the language of kindness transcends species and can heal us all.
Munu’s journey will open hearts and minds to the plight of not just rhinos but all endangered wildlife. And by becoming a supporter, you will help this blind rhino’s vision for his species’ future become a reality.

A message from actress Shannon Elizabeth:
“Meet Munu, a very rare black rhino species with a disability that no longer enables him to live safely in the wild…he is completely blind. Through a series of events, my non-profit was asked to partner in his long-term care and to build a sanctuary where his genetics and offspring can play a critical role in helping to save the species and repopulate areas decimated by the ongoing poaching crisis. Unfortunately, this poaching war in Africa continues to drive species like rhinos to potential extinction on a daily basis.
Poachers will stop at nothing to feed the demand from Asia, where rhino horn is used for everything from a cure for cancer to a status symbol for wealthy people in business. The media is flooded with traumatic and violent depictions of this crisis, but many good things are also happening. In the face of deadly odds, Munu’s story represents an industry’s positive response to help protect these majestic animals.
We can all see ourselves in Munu. We have all felt alone, isolated, and even desperate, and as a result, we have relied on the kindness of others—often strangers—to get by. Munu would be a formidable and aggressive adversary in the wild, but as he comes to terms with his blindness, he must trust his courageous caretakers for survival. And in turn, we realize we are no different—we all respond to kindness and compassion. Munu’s story reminds us that even in the worst moments, we can find salvation in the goodness of others. Munu has become a teacher to all who have entered his story. Join us on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share this remarkable and thought-provoking story.
Your contribution will not only enable us to create this crucial docuseries, but it will actually help with Munu’s ongoing care for years to come. Your donation will empower the Shannon Elizabeth Foundation and Munu to be a shareholder in his own story and in this production, with proceeds going to Munu’s ongoing care and protection.”

What We Need & What You Get
We need to raise at least $500,000 to ensure Munu has ownership of his own story. The more donations we receive, the sooner we can focus solely on Munu instead of fundraising. This series will not only support Munu’s ongoing care and protection but will also give his species the best chance of survival.
All funding raised through this campaign will go to telling Munu’s story in the most beautiful, heart-warming, scientifically accurate way. You’ll get a front-row seat to see what goes into conservation work on the ground—from building a sanctuary to transporting rhinos to the safety measures we need to take to protect them from poachers. We will even see how Munu meets his first potential mate and watch how this rhino love affair evolves into our ultimate goal—allowing endangered rhinos to breed so their offspring can go back into the wild safely and where they ultimately belong.

DIRECTLY:
- Production of the series—filming, sound, equipment, etc.
- Post-production, including score and color
- Marketing & distribution
INDIRECTLY:
- Your contribution will ensure Munu receives even more financial aid from this production. So many documentaries fail to bring tangible support to the story’s subject. But with his program being a financial beneficiary of the series, Munu will be the first wild animal to be a shareholder in his own story!

The Impact
Everything for us is about measurable impact! This project will contribute to the real and dangerous on-the-ground conservation work and make a massive difference in the following ways:
- Munu’s ongoing safety, well-being, and care.
- Building a sanctuary and breeding program to protect critically endangered Black Rhino.
- Munu’s story of survival despite his disability must be shared to help all to understand and become aware of the plight of endangered rhinos. Ultimately, if people everywhere fall in love with rhinos, we have a better chance of saving them from extinction.
- The stories of the rangers and people who risk their lives every day to protect animals will also be highlighted, teaching the world that to save animals, you must first save people.

Risks & Challenges
Conservation work is complicated and often dangerous. As we embark on this mission, we are aware of the risks to our safety, but most importantly, to the security of Munu and his kind. We must act quickly and effectively to keep ourselves and Munu safe from poachers while telling his story. There is so much that can go wrong, but there is one massive thing that can and must go right—we must protect Munu and help save his species.
