Water is alive! This is its story! A stone bowl fills with drama: Ancient Wisdom + Modern Science
New Mexico’s high, dry desert was an ancient inland sea
New Mexicans know some things about water. Part of the state was once covered by an inland sea but now we experience some of the harshest drought conditions in the country. The Water Clock is an original tale about an imaginary bowl that came from that ancient seabed.
WHAT IF … Water is alive?
WHAT IF … Nature is communicating?
The mystery includes our dirt: A famous Santa Fe potter told Screenwriter Sheil Seclearr about ventures on horseback out into the Galisteo Basin. She carried paper bags in her saddlebag and when she spotted an unusual mineral patch or iridescent color, she’d scoop it up, take it to her studio and mix into one of her remarkable glazes. Her daughter, a potter and filmmaker, has studied the pre-history of the Basin, rich in early potshards and ruins. The seeds of this story are there, in our dirt, and the unnamed sparkly stuff that fills our air and water. Our primal brains sense our connections, to each other and to our planet.
The Water Clock is a metaphor for paying attention. Connection. Spark. Life.
The Impact
This inspirational CliFi (Climate Fiction) story helps us make a leap of consciousness. As more of us understand that our planet has living energy, we begin to make wiser choices. With the aid of your contributions:
- We support our local team of seasoned film and music experts. Keeping film rights in New Mexico gives our story a unique flavor and power!
- Like Screenwriter Seclearr’s group, the ”Global Climate Storyteller Network,” we can all join forces to create a Call to Action on behalf of our natural resources. Our website will list projects in the works and include ways for our viewers to take action.
- We’ll bring attention to the truly strange attributes showing up in modern water science, leading experts to wonder why or how water alters its H2O structure.
- Is nature giving us clues? Does water have language?
Our Hero, Orinday
Orinday is a young farmer who is about to become a father. He’s the latest from countless generations to carry the Water Clock; his family has sent him to show the bowl to scientists studying water in Northern New Mexico. “The Water Clock tells much more than time,” he says, but must break through their habits of study and being dismissed as ‘simple’ or ‘primitive.’
The Water Clock is a drama, with mystery, suspicion, misbehavior, and conflict. But it’s also an Infinite Tale. Rather than naming a ‘winner,’ it challenges us all to take up the mission.
Our feature film’s tagline is “Water is Alive and this is its story.” Watch our video for more details about the plot lines.
As their great efforts to befriend the local Water Watchers nearly succeed, a plot twist jolts them all to a tense climax. Suddenly in a waterless world of life-and-death tension, they must face their dilemma: Will the two very different groups help each other survive? Will anyone hear the message of the water?
Our Team
- Writer/Producer Sheil Seclearr made a career of adapting others’ books to film. Now this original story emerges from the dry arroyos near hometown, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
- Seclearr is part of a growing group, The Global Climate Storytellers’ Network.
- Climate Fiction or CliFi has been shown to engage audiences in a Call to Action.
- Based on water science and quantum physics, mixed with an ancient force of nature, this inspiring fictional story will end with a call to support actual water and environmental projects around the world.
- By tapping the global cry for Climate action, we can create movies that help.
- Contributors help the world make a leap of consciousness. We can make a difference.
What We Need & What You Get
- Our launch round of funding ($60,000) will help us contract with cast and crew. As our talent roster grows, we’ll leverage that for next rounds and finishing funds.
- We have fun rewards that put you in the film: Naming rights to boats, streets, etc. Stay alert to our updates for secret Perks.
- Please keep sharing: you may know someone who would be perfect for our film.
- Our ongoing efforts will be to recognize groups and environmental projects as sponsors without them laying out thousands of dollars. Just by their members participating, they could have their project featured in several ways.
- No matter how much we raise, the funds will help us make contract offers to talent and crew. This moves the project forward in a big way. Thank you!
Risks & Challenges
We’ve all seen projects fall apart or be mismanaged. Plus we experienced the Covid Shutdown. It’s important to note that the pandemic opened up the film industry in ways that benefit small productions with wider opportunities for distribution and financing. Now finally, the industry can produce films that look and sound more like US.
- We’re assembling a team of entrepreneurs who focus on solutions, no matter what we face.
- Funding from a grassroots audience builds a broad base to call upon if we ever face something unknown. We believe in you and appreciate that you believe in us.
