Raising pre-production funds for an NFT project supporting a food education TV Series based in Ghana

Story

Foodies is a TV series promoting local foods, good nutrition, and the origins of food. Two children, assisted by four animated characters called The Foodies discover good farming practices, healthy food, and cooking. The children, with the help of The Foodies, tackle daily eating challenges and try to solve them.

Foodies is a humanitarian project at its core. We believe that issues related to food and agriculture are some of the biggest issues facing our planet. And unfortunately, in moments of crisis, developing countries are those that suffer the most.

The Foodies Tribe, on the other hand, is the community that stands behind all that. The NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) is simply the glue that brings together the people and the Foodies’ cause. Foodies finds itself in a rare cosmic intersection between Art, Technology, Cinematography, and a deeper Humanitarian cause, which is at the core of what those little characters want to bring our attention.

We aim to become the first series being produced completely through NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) – a revolutionary technology that connects individuals to one cause – in this case, Foodies.  NFT, technically speaking, is a smart contract that gives ownership to a single piece of digital content through blockchain technologies. We want to use this technology as a lever to lift Foodies up and produce the best quality TV Series.

We want to build a strong, vibrant and engaging community around Foodies and therefore we need your help to create a collectible collection of X number of unique Foodies NFT characters, The Non-Fungible Tokens will help to create the community and the sale to produce the series. Get involved early and become part of the Tribe!

Note: By sustaining this crowdfunding campaign, and later through the NFT sales, you will be part of the community, and the collected money will ultimately support the show production.

The so-called #Film3 movement is a new paradigm to produce content, where the creators and the community keeps the power! This will be the first series produced through NFT technology. You can be part of this unique journey from the very beginning.

Our Challenges before launching the NFT:

– Design the full NFT collection
– Create a strong community on social media and through events.
– Smart contract and web3 Development

The NFT project expenses can be summed up by the following illustration below. We want to be as transparent as possible. If you feel some pieces of information are missing, or you want to learn more, please write us an e-mail or send a message on Telegram.

A few years ago we filmed 3 pilot episodes of Foodies in Ghana (West Africa). One of the pillars of the project was to work with local artists, illustrators, actors, film crews, and researchers and connect the entertainment industry with the Science community. This adventure was an important step in promoting local talent. The episodes were a great success and had the highest TV ratings for family programming on national TV in Ghana. The episodes are also used in the educational curriculum in schools.

Our production philosophy is to collaborate with local artists, illustrators, musicians, and film crew (see list at the end). We care about local talents and capacity building to give some youngsters the chance to learn the craft of filmmaking – animation – illustration and web3 technology.

We have been working with some of the most progressive local artists, established ones, and new talents. Hanson Akatti illustrated the Foodies characters. Mensa Ansah, the well-known musician, was the voice of Hot Pepper and music director for all the Foodies songs. Sena Dagadu, a force in the music world was the voice of Mama Ko and sang as one of the episode headliners. Wanlov, a household name in Ghana, composed a song and jingle for the show, James Brown dubbed the character Sugarcane and Obaapa Owusu Pratt was Peanut. British-Ghanaian actress Ama K. Abebrese, Ecow Smith Asante, Kwabena “Jahwi” Danso, Tracey Ayaby Ntreh, and Fortune Akatey, starred as the family. Providing scientific content were McGill University, The University of Ghana, and Anna Lartey, Ph.D. Nutritionist and former head of nutrition of the FAO.

In the below timeline chart, you can find the Foodies NFT project plan along a half-year time scale. It shows the Seed Funding phase (in Blue), the IT development (in Orange), the Graphic Design process (Red), and the Marketing process (in Aquamarine). In Green, you can find the expected launch day buffer, which is expected by the end of January 2023.

You can taste what the TV Series will look like with the below 3 teaser episodes, made with a very low budget.

ep01 – A diversified diet

ep02- Fruits and Vegetables

ep03 – Anaemia

Here you can find the many people and artists that made this adventure possible. “The Foodies Tribe” is a team composed of original creators and web3-related specialists. The NFT part is built with the support of Helix Labs, composed of Nema, Kevin, and Mirko

The original idea of Foodies was generated by Sinne Mutsaers, and together with Jarreth Merz they made this magic idea possible.
