Overview

Hi, I’m Maysa.  I’m a Grammy nominated, and Soul Train award winning recording artist from Baltimore, MD.  With a long career in music from a vocalist for the band Incognito, to a solo artist (including collaborations with everyone from Stevie Wonder, Angela Bofill, Will Downing, Jonathan Butler, Phil Perry and more)  I’ve released many albums through different record companies who own my masters.  At this stage of my career I need your help to change that. 

You probably know that the music industry has changed dramatically over the years.  It is much more challenging for an artist to make a living in the streaming world, and the challenges of being signed to a record label are many.

I am proud to say I now have my own independent label.  And I have self funded the recording of my new double album “Music For Your Soul”.  My campaign’s focus is to put together a promotion plan that gets my now independent music into the world in a meaningful way.  The massive amount of music that is released monthly means the heart and soul I poured into this album will be lost if not promoted properly.  Your joining me to make this happen will mean my music will be on the same footing as some signed artists.  It will allow me to continue to make the music that I hope touches your soul.

Goal and Perks

I need $ 50,000 to promote and market this album.  It is not enough to make great music and make it available.  It is very costly to compete with the music machine and labels that control what people hear.  I have people on my team but without spending the money necessary my work of the past few years is for naught.  To get my new album heard I need to surround my project with a robust team of individuals who feel as passionately about my music as I do, and as I hope you do.  They will work with me to put together a competitive digital campaign, publicity campaign, and press campaign, all to make my tiny indie label not so tiny, which will get my music to more souls and I hope in some small way make someone’s day better.  If I don’t reach my entire goal, I will promote my album to its maximum potential with what I do raise. I’ve put together as many creative perks that I could think of to ensure that you receive something special for joining me on this journey.   Big or small my heart and soul are in all of them.

Music is so powerful.  It can transport you to a place and time in your life.  It can bring out emotions and help you understand the world around you.  It can simply make you feel not so all alone.  While my solo albums have allowed me to do perform live for you around the world, they have benefited the labels that own them.  Your joining me on this journey gives me a fighting chance to change that.  I am blessed to have a loving and loyal fan base that I trust will love this new album as much as I do.

The Business of Music

The music industry is not for the weak of heart.  The streaming world makes it almost impossible for a vast majority of artists to recoup what they spent recording their albums.  My 32 year career has garnered me lifelong fans who I pray will continue to support me by supporting this new album.  Your support through perks will make sure I can reach those fans and find new ones.
