Cheer, a startup from Vienna, Austria, producing organic tampons, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support women in war-torn Ukraine who are currently experiencing dire poverty. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has significantly increased poverty rates, leaving many women unable to afford essential groceries or sanitary products. As a result, there is a severe period poverty problem, with women struggling to manage their menstrual cycles in these challenging circumstances.
The campaign aims to provide much-needed support to these women through a partnership with Team4UA, a humanitarian aid organization that provides essential supplies to over 180,000 Ukrainian citizens on a monthly basis. The initiative will see the donation of 1,000 organic tampons from Cheer, and the launch of a charity event titled “United for Women in Ukraine” to raise awareness and funds.
The event is scheduled to take place on March 6th, 2023, at the Café Museum on Operngasse 7. Sidney von Guggenberg, the founder of Cheer, will speak about the issue of period poverty in Ukraine, while Bernhard Friedl from Team4UA will provide updates on the current situation in the country.
Donations made to this cause will go towards purchasing additional sanitary products and essential supplies that will be delivered by Team4UA to those in need. Every dollar counts, and donors can contribute via PayPal (https://www.paypal.me/sidneyvvg) or bank transfer (IBAN: AT93 4300 0314 0156 9012; recipient: Sidney Victoria von Guggenberg zu Riedhofen).
This campaign cannot succeed without the support of donors who want to make a difference in the lives of women affected by this crisis. Those who join this effort will be directly contributing to providing essential supplies to women in Ukraine. Through collective action, we can help make a positive impact on the lives of those who need it most.
