Johnny Rich Brewery is a new startup specializing in crafting Ancient  Herbal Gruit Beers, Ales and Fruit Wine. We need your help to kick  start our taproom and brewery in Southern Malaysia, Johor Bahru. Gruit  Beers are ancient beverages which was ALMOST EXTINCT through antiquity,  thanks to modern archaeology discovery these great wonderful beers are  returning back to our modern society. Gruit Beers are healthy beverage  with over 7000 years in history where moderate consumption of Gruit Beer  can benefit our body in many ways.

History

I am a passionate brewer with over 10 years  brewing experience  specializing in brewing Gruit beer and wine. Gruit Beer recipes were  very sacred recipes in the olden days, both recipes and their individual  brewing methods were passed down mainly through heritage or lineages. I  was taught the art of making various Gruit Beer by my spiritual teacher  (Red Sect Lineage) during my very young age. During those days, I have  no idea that those recipes passed to me were actually Gruit Beer recipes  nor do I know that what I brewed were actually Gruit Beers. All I was  taught was these beverages are healthy to our body and are  also used as offering to deities during various religious ceremonies.

Having lived in United States for quite some time I did picked up the  beer brewing hobby back in Florida. I have no problem brewing my home  brew beers when I was in Singapore and Thailand because hops are easily  available these countries. However in Malaysia, getting your hands on  hops is almost impossible. Feeling frustrated over not being able to  brew my home brew beer due to unavailability of hops made me explore  into other alternative. I came across an article  about the history of  beer and found out about these Ancient Herbal Ales which made me fully  excited.

Taste of traditional gruit beers can be extremely harsh and their  alcohol content are of very high percentage. Over the years, I have  refine all the recipes that were passed down to me and founded 3 more  tasty gruit beer recipes myself. Without compromising the health benefit  properties of the individual gruit beer these refine recipes are now  much more pleasant and smoother compared to their original style.

About Gruit Beer

Gruit Beers are the forefathers of all modern beers (all beers that are brewed using hops are classified as modern beers) Before the Egyptians, the primitive cultures of Mesopotamia are  believed to have been the first brewers, though they didn’t make any  recording but it  happens around 10,000 B.C. The oldest record of Gruit  Beers in the world were  documented by the Egyptians on papyrus scrolls  around 5,000 B.C. These first beers were brewed with things like dates,  pomegranates, and other indigenous herbs. The Egyptians used these beers  for religious ceremonies, with the Pharaoh directing the brewing  schedule and distribution to the masses.

During ancient days due to their various benefits to our health gruit  recipes are regarded as something very sacred. Well guarded by each  family, monasteries or churches these recipes, their various brewing  process and methods were passed from generation to generation or through  their various heritage or lineages.

Through scientific discoveries it has been affirmed that most  gruit beers are healthy. Johnny Rich Brewery shares the vision, passion, and desire to  create healthy gruit beer and wine. Our brewery specializes in using  mixture of herbs and spices to craft all our gruit beer. To us, beer or  wine is more than just an alcoholic drink; it is a way of life, a way of  expressing oneself in taste. There is not just one single beer or wine  that fits all, but a variety of different brews and only few of those  match your personal preferences and quench your thirst in the most  pleasant way and enhancing our health which will leave you wanting more.

Blackpearl Premium Gruit Stout
    The  Blackpearl Premium Gruit Stout is made using quality coffee beans  roasted and blended with our selected spice, this stout is smooth, rich  in flavor and it is very good for our health too.

Phoenixpearl Premium Gruit Ale
    The  Phoenixpearl Premium Gruit Ale is yet another Gruit Ale crafted by  Johnny Rich Brewery which contains Probiotics. Made using fresh  pineapples with our selected spice and herb.

Johnny Rich Brewery Red Fruit Wine

Johnny  Rich Brewery Red Fruit Wine is made using a combination of selected  tropical fruits like watermelon, red pitahaya and black raisin. This  red wine is smooth, bright and fruity in flavor. An excellent match for  red meat, ready to drink right away this classic selection that will  get any party started. Best served chilled.

Johnny Rich Brewery White Fruit Wine

Using  a combination of yellow watermelon, pineapple and yellow raisin Johnny  Rich Brewery White Fruit Wine is slightly dry but rich in aroma. This  white wine is slightly dry, bright and fruity in flavor with rich  pineapple aroma. An excellent match with all sort of white meat. Best  served chilled.

What We Need & What You Get

• We are looking to gain funding that will allow us to build both our  taproom and brewery. Our brewery is planned to be located at Desa  Cemerlang Industrial Park Johor Bahru, Malaysia and our taproom at Desa  Tebrau, Johor Bahru (approximately 9 km from the brewery)
• We will need to raise around SGD $180,000 to help us in the renovations as well as getting new equipment
• Each and every dollar raised on this campaign will go directly into our building for yourself and everyone to enjoy.
