LOST is a Next-Gen Survival game with a massive wildlife which brings fun and realism at the same time.

Story

This video is a features trailer presented in the same order than the Kickstarter. We invite you to read below to learn more about LOST.

We plan to also make multiple trailers including one for gameplay, a deeper presentation of each biome and sub biomes, a presentation for every mounts and many more.

LOST is an open-world survival game based on a rich wildlife. With over 1 500 crafting recipes, 100+ animal species & a beautiful environment shaped by numerous biomes populated by Speedtrees vegetation, you won’t run out of content to enjoy and explore.

Our Inspirations – Being avid fans of survival games ourselves we wanted to develop our own game based on our gaming experiences. We saw in the last years that there is a hole in the survival game industry and we wanted to fill it in.

Even if numerous aspects of our game are inspired by many games, our main inspiration is and will always be Minecraft. Minecraft is the only game that has this much diversity, which makes it a game that you can have fun playing for hundreds or even thousands of hours.
We have and are still trying to follow its steps to include as much diversity and pleasure for all, while adding our little touch of realism without it becoming annoying.

LOST is developed by a very ambitious team who, from the start, decided to take their time to create a quality product and be able to not rush its release date and release a half completed game. At the moment, even while working full time, things are not moving as fast as we want them to.

A realistic launch date, considering we reach our goal, would be mid summer 2020. We wrote December 2020 to give ourselves some slack if there are too many unexpected challenges.

LOST will launch in english, french, spanish, russian and traditional chinese but along the way it will be translated in languages the community want the most.

Once our game is launched and stable on PC, we will release LOST on Playstation and Xbox.

You’re living your dream to live ashore on a sailboat looking to explore what the ocean has to offer but during your trip near the Bermuda Triangle you get caught by a massive storm. When you wake up you find your boat in pieces with all your belongings gone, left to yourself on a seemingly undiscovered island which feels like it has many secrets to uncover.

Explore & Discover – While the main goal of our game is to survive we chose to take a path that we thought not enough game developers went through which is exploration. We put as much effort into the landscape of the game as its core gameplay. From the surface to the caves, from the ruins to the abandoned villages, you will never run out of places to explore as our map is massive.

Variety of Biomes – A vast variety of biomes was our first concern when we started designing the map. We managed to create over 15 completely different biomes to discover with their own vegetation and wildlife.

Points of Interest – What we call points of interests are areas that we gave some extra love. Since exploration is our main goal, there are many of those to discover and explore. Waterfalls, ruins, abandoned villages, caves, massive mountains and many more beautiful landscapes will be at your disposition to discover and explore.

The Forest is the center point of the map, being the most familiar biome and knowing this is usually a basic biome this is the one we spent the most time on to make it as unique as possible. You will maybe witness natural selection in action on occasion.

A bear feasting on its prey after hunting.

The Arctic is at the northest point of the map & it’s based on a taiga/permafrost scenery. Being the coldest biome in LOST, you’ll need warm clothes before adventuring here.

A sunny day in the Arctic biome.

The Desert is the most southern point of the map. Along with the canyon & the savanna, these are the driest biomes & also the least populated because of their harsh living conditions. Remember to bring water so you don’t get dehydrated.

Camels questioning the reason of your presence.

The Savanna is the harshest biome to survive in since this is where the wildest animals call home. Trying to set up a home here is basically a deathwish since animals in this biome are very protective of their environment.

An elephant couple walking together in the savanna.

The Jungle is the densest biome, once you go in you may never find your way out. Along the trees and vines you may find a wet swamp riddled with crocodiles and mangrove trees. There is word that an old civilisation lived here at one point.

The jungle, home of the gorillas.

The DeadLands are one of the darkest and most dangerous place in the world of LOST. It regroups the most vicious and aggressive animals that’ll be pleased to eat you alive.

A nice warm bath.

The Geyser Biome is a place mostly composed of rocks, hot water sources & geysers. It’s very rich in ores but nature is very scarce. This biome will be extremely helpful if you run out of water in the Arctic Biome.

Numerous geysers in eruption.

The Beaches are probably the area you will frequent the most in your journey. They are the easiest way of traveling since they are generally safe & go all around the map. Pay attention to the crabs though, they can snap !

A river separating the forest in half.

The Tropical Swamp is the Jungle & the Tropical Island swamp. Principally populated by alligators & crocodiles, it is rather dismal which despite the calm feel, can turn into a nightmare at any moment if you step foot into the wrong place.

Three alligators approaching you.

The Redwood Forest is the most impressive biome in LOST with its higher altitude and trees reaching over 250 feet (76 meters). A very dangerous forest to explore alone at night since it is home to multiple wolves lairs.

A moose camouflaging perfectly with the landscape.

The Canyon is a linear biome that connects the desert, the savanna and the jungle all in one place. It is a good way of travelling rapidly from a point to another in the south of the map. You’ll maybe have a chance of seeing eagles flying over the biome.

The canyons entrance from the savanna.

The Blossom Forest is a continuity of the Forest biome, nonetheless with an intense variety of color. You will find the same animals than in The Forest but with a totally different setting.

The connecting point of multiple rivers.

The Icebergs follow the entire northern coast of the map. To get there you will need a boat since the water is constantly near-freezing. You’ll find walruses, seals & dozens of penguins. A paradise for fishermen!

Icebergs as far as one can see.

The Volcanic Island is a tropical island remote of the rest of the map. It hosts a giant shield volcano completely burnt on top. An ancient tale tells that a giant gorilla guards the isle, only experienced fighters will have a chance at coming out of it alive.

Caves – We wanted to make sure that caves were as present and polished as the surface world. There is an entire other world underground almost as massive as the outside world ready for you to explore and maybe call home. There are over 25 entrances spread throughout the map some may be dead ends and some are connected. These entrances are usually well hidden and hard to spot.

Realistic Geography & Vegetation Placements –  We made sure to make the map as realistic and logical as possible. Up north will be the cold biomes, down south are the hot ones. Each biome has their own realistically sized vegetation which correlate with their real life equivalent. We took the best out of every real life biomes, for example we took trees from oriental swamps and mixed them with plants from a swampy occidental environment to give it the best visual experience possible.

Hunger & Thirst – We finely tuned our hunger system taking the best out of last-gen survival games with a way more realistic approach. This means that, just like a real human, you do not need to eat a massive steak, potatoes and 5 water bottles to walk from your home to your garden.

Day & Night Cycle – LOST has a very immersive world, the environment will change with time for example, during the day you will encounter butterflies and bees and during the night they will be replaced by fireflies. Animals will also have different behavior and patterns depending on the time of the day.

Night-time with fireflies and daytime with butterflies.

Game Mode Difficulties – When you start a new game you will be able to choose between the four difficulties available. The first one which is Normal Mode is what you expect and are used to in a survival game, your food levels won’t go down as much, the day and night cycle will be shorter and animals won’t hit you as hard. The second one which is Hard Mode is for experimented players, ressources will be more scarce, food will be limited and wild animals will hit harder and might even take you out in one hit. An option will also be available for the Hard mode which makes it even harder, The Hardcore Mode, which exists in numerous games already. It makes your character even more important than ever since if your character dies, it will automatically wipe your save & you have to start over. There is also Ultra-Realism Mode, whichwhen you create your world there will be a limited amount of animals that if you’re not careful, you could accidentally wipe an entire specie.

Dynamic Weather System – There is a dense variation of climate conditions depending on the biome you are situated in. For instance, in the desert there will rarely be rain but sandstorms will be frequent & up north there will be no rainy days but there will be numerous blizzards and sometimes even aurora borealis.

An aurora borealis in the middle of the night.

Crafting & Building System – The crafting system is quite straight-forward & effective but complex in the sense that you have multiple crafting tables for different tasks. If you need to craft a table you will use the furniture bench and if you want a house foundation you craft it in the architect table.

Our building system is flexible, you can build yourself a cute little home with many choices of decorations or go all out on a massive optimised base with defensive systems.

Foraging – While you are exploring the world you will find a large variety of wild crops, plants & trees used for cooking and feeding yourself. Just like everything else, the vegetation will always differ from biome to biome. We tried to make it as coherent as possible, in the jungle, you will find banana trees, in the plains you will find wild corn on the cob & much more.

Agriculture – Our agricultural system is really simple in LOST. You’ll need to craft a makeshift garden and then plant one of fifteen seeds and tree saplings which you will find foraging around the map or when cutting trees. Once it’s planted, you’ll need to wait some determined time based on the seed you have sown and you’ll be able to harvest.

Makeshift gardens for a makeshift farmer.

Scavenging – The scavenging in LOST is fairly simple, even if we had a hard time finding the concept. It will principally be done on the beaches and on the ocean. On the beaches, you will be able to find barrels, boxes or washed up bottles in the sand which will spawn randomly. On the ocean you will find broken rafts you can raid for diverse loot which will also spawn randomly.

A barrel washed up on the beach.

Advanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) – Our animal behavior is based on the real life behavior meaning that animals that stay in packs will always be together. They are also individually tuned so that for example, an animal with a more aggressive behavior in real life will also be more aggressive in LOST. Each species has their own spawn points which will change throughout the day and depending on the weather.

Hunting – Hunting has been rethought in LOST. It is our most prideful system since hunting constantly varies. Animal spawns will depend on the time of the day or the weather, you’ll need to study the world constantly which makes it a different experience every time. This also allowed us to make that certain animals will be rarer since they need a specific setting to spawn in.

We tried to push hunting as far as we possibly could with different weapons inflicting varying damage based on which part of the body you struck.

Breed, Tame & Mount animals – Being ourselves fans of games with collectibles, we absolutely wanted to find a way to include them in a survival theme and we decided it’ll be animals.

LOST’s breeding system is inspired by Minecraft by the way it works. It’s quite simple, different animals need different food to get in mating mode & some species may need multiple crops to reproduce themselves. Our animals have two growing stages from cute little baby to a mature animal ready for reproduction.

A family of hippopotamus swimming.

Our goal with the taming system would be to make every animal possible to be tameable and rideable. When an animal is tamed, it will follow you, attack and defend for you & each animal will have their own characteristics and stats. Some animals will still be rideable untamed but they will be unpredictable and not as efficient as tamed animals.

Yourself riding a reindeer.

World Boss – Surviving will always be the main goal in LOST, but for some people, some type of objective is necessary. It’s for this reason we decided to add world bosses which will not only be the hardest challenge in the game, but also will be very rewarding. Note that world bosses are not required to progress in the world,  they will be there for the players seeking to test their combat abilities against the toughest animals in the world of LOST.

World bosses will spawn in remote places in each zone and they will be sleeping so that you have to hit them to initiate the combat.

An ultimate predator waiting for a challenger.

Note that all the stretch goals are planned, but could be added earlier with a bigger team.

85 000$ – (Base Goal) Full time development to release the game & accelerate the release of extra content.

100 000$ – (Map Enhancement) We think our map is fairly complete but there are some details and points of interest we would’ve liked to implement.

125 000$ – (The Ornithologist) More than 10 different species of bird, extra variety of ranged weapons & a carbine will be added to the game.

150 000$ – (Scavenging Enhancement) Added more in-depth scavenging methods like washed up remains of rafts and old civilisation loot.

175 000$ – (The Seaworld) This update will make sure that the ocean is as much alive as the surface ground. This means 10+ variant of sea animals and full underwater vegetation, making it a complete undersea world to discover.

200 000$ – (World Boss Update) In this update there will be even more world bosses to defeat which also means more fighting grounds and new mechanics.

225 000$ – (Special Animals) This adds rare varieties of animals with unique stats and appearance for you to tame and collect.

250 000$ – (Hardcore Mode) This adds a new difficulty only destined for real survivors who think they can handle not respawning when they die.

300 000$ – (Ultra-Realism Mode) Ecology is more important than ever, killed animals won’t respawn and vegetation won’t regrow. You will have to manage your world if you don’t want a specie to go extinct.

400 000$ – (The Rider) Ever thought how cool it would be to be able to use more than 100+ Animals as mounts? This update makes it possible!

500 000$ – (Play the animal side) You can now play as every animal in the game but you  still need to feed yourself and find your place on the food chain so you don’t get killed by a predator.

After over 5 years of development, we now can see the end getting near and we finally have a quality product to offer but to get there we had to adapt it with times changing and this is what ate most of our personal funds. Now we’re at a point where we have an half-completed project made entirely by ourselves but what’s left to do is out of our jurisdiction & we need you to complete it.

The amount we are asking is necessary to reach our objective, with this we will be able to reach out to some new 3D artists, a sound studio & maybe even some more programmers to help us reach the perfect product faster.

At the same occasion, we think that crowdfunding can be a really good way to create links between us & the community to receive feedback and continually improve our project and bring it up to our customers taste.

A graphical representation of the money distribution.

Programming : 20% With a project of this size, we really could use a second programmer to make things move faster.

Art & 3D Modeling : 25% We still need to tweak some animal models and complete our 3D model collection.

OST & Audio : 20% We would like to hire a sound studio to get our sounds up to par with the graphics and the gameplay.

Misc. & Extras : 15% For all unexpected costs that can occur while in development. For all unexpected costs that can occur while in development.

Kickstarter Fees & Taxes : 20% This part of the goal is for the kickstarter fee, payment processing fees and taxes.

We would like to thank each and everyone investing themselves into LOST’s future whatever the way you decide to help. If you cannot donate you can still help by talking about the game to friends and people around you, this will always be highly appreciated & can help way more than you can imagine.
