Venerable eastern & modern western action stars collide in a Pulp Fiction of martial arts films
A MODERN ACTION MOVIE THAT CLASSIC MARTIAL ARTS FANS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!
HOUSE OF FANGS (working title) is an action film that will update the classic Hong Kong style Kung Fu movie in modern America, bringing back to the big screen some well-known stars of these past fan-favorite movies to be paired up with contemporary action stars and filmmakers of the west!
The shooting script is currently in the rewrite stage and the plot is partially under wraps but is being described as “Dragon Gate Inn meets John Wick” as a group of American assassins hiding out in a rural Chinese restaurant discover the owners of the establishment serve up much more than just good food! A dark action comedy written by action star and director, Michael Worth (U.S. Seals 2, Wanted Man, Apple Seed ) with partners including Frank Djeng & the producers of Enter the Clones of Bruce . We are partially funded but need the rabid fans of the genre to now make this one-of-a-kind project explode to vivid life!
Written with the style and sensibilities of a modern set action film but flowing with the passion and tone of the classic stories and characters from the Shaw Brothers (Five Deadly Venoms), Golden Harvest (Hapkido) and Seasonal Film Corporation (Secret Rivals) of old. Where this production will be a significant pioneer in the genre is in bringing back a handful of well known stars of the 1970s and 1980s Hong Kong action film genre from the obscurity of retirement into a tour de’ force ensemble with action stars of the current and recent crop of fighters of American cinema. Several have already agreed to appear while we await your support and donations to help to get the rest on the dotted line!
Authoritative martial arts stars such as Angela Mao Ying (Enter The Dragon), Dragon Lee (The Clones of Bruce Lee), Bruce Le (Enter The Game of Death), Chiu Chi Ling (Duel of the 7 Tigers), Bruce Li (Bruce Lee The Man, The Myth), Don Wang Tao (The Hot, The Cool and The Vicious) and Bruce Leung (Kung Fu Hustle) have already expressed interest in returning to the screen together in this energetic and violent cinematic ride but they need you now to help finish the deal!
Action sequences are to be arranged by Jackie Chan Stunt Team Member Andy Cheng (U.S. Seals 2, The Rundown) who is a perfect fusion of eastern and western cinema combat experience. A phenomenal director and choreographer himself, with his roots within the Hong Kong filmmaking community makes Andy an ideal partner on this project.
You can simply support us on a small scale while receiving exclusive emailed updates or venture into the deeper waters and join the producing team and even be featured in the film taking your licks from one or more of the greats!
Though the following and above actors are not confirmed until the campaign closes and the deals finalized, their involvement in the film is already in negotiation with specific story characters and some if not all will be involved. These are examples of the stars you could be seeing back in action once again in House of Fangs:
– Dragon Lee (Moon Kyung-Seok), “The Cook”
A phenom of physical fitness and energy, “Dragon” has been a force of screen combat since the release of the U.S. blockbuster The Real Bruce Lee in 1977. At 67 years old he still trains every day!
– Angela Mao Ying, “The Owner”
Known for the classics Enter the Dragon and Lady Whirlwind, Angela only spent 10 years in the film business and became a top female action draw before retiring from the screen on her own terms.
– Chiu Chi Ling, “The Busser”
A perennial opponent throughout the 1970s in films like Duel of the 7 Tigers and Bruce’s Fingers, Chiu is also a direct descendent under the founder of the Hung Gar system of martial arts.
– Bruce Le, “The Waiter”
Burma born Le began his career at Shaw Brothers through a recommendation by Bruce Lee’s most famous director Lo Wei in films like Rivals of Kung Fu and The Teahouse to directing his own very successful action films in the 1990s.
– Bruce Leung, “The Dishwasher”
From one of the more famous families in Martial Arts action, Leung has been working on screen since the early 1970s and earning one of his more famous roles in 2004’s Kung Fu Hustle.
– Bruce Li, “Hammer Foot”
One of the most well known names outside of the King of Kung Fu himself is Bruce Li: Ho Tsung Tao. A Taiwanese martial artist/actor/director who proved to be one of the more respected Kung Fu film stars to ever emerge from the industry.
Rounding out these eastern legends will be a crop of current western action stars of the last several decades to create a memorable cinematic clash. Merging the cultures and generations in an action film to combine the best of both worlds. Think of names like Dudikof, Dacascos, Adkins, Lundgren and Lamas, sharing the space, screen and blows with these pioneers of Kung Fu cinema. Our goal, once financed, will be to assemble the most original cast and performers we have seen in a very very long time spanning generations and cultures across the world. But this will all partially depend on the enthusiasm of you the fans and supporters!
– Michael Worth, Writer/Director
A life-long martial artist, Worth (Acapulco H.E.A.T.) began his action career with 1990’s fight films like To Be The Best, began writing and directing festival winning films like God’s Ears in the early 2000’s and has not stopped making movies since. Worth returns in a big way to the action genre again here to pay tribute to the movies he grew up watching as a youth. While producing the 2023 festival darling documentary Enter The Clones of Bruce, Worth developed a relationship and friendship with many of the actors and directors of the genre and his dream is to give them a chance to shine one more time in a memorable action film to be shot in the United States.
The action sequences will prioritize the shooting schedule with several locations throughout California already being considered for the major set pieces. An Eastern/Western if there ever was one! Like the system of shooting that Worth and Cheng created during the classic Isaac Florentine directed U.S. Seals 2, HOF will incorporate a similar simultaneous filming style with both action and 1st unit working side by side to maximize a short shooting schedule.
If we reach our goal, we will begin shooting in Winter of 2023 in the western United States, wrapping production in late 2023 or January/February 2024 aiming for a Spring/Summer 2024 release. We would love to have you be part of this exciting passion project as we create a rare historic opportunity to bring back a cadre of honored Hong Kong action stars for an exciting and long overdue return!
