Short Summary

William Joyce aka Lord Haw Haw was not a traitor he was an American citizen but raised in Ireland and as a teenager it is said was an informant to the British forces about the IRA activities during the Irish War of Independence. Joyce fled to England to carry out more work for the British forces and when he was tipped off about his planned internment he fled to Germany on 26 August 1939 with the approval of the British Government.

In September 1939 Joyce was approached to broadcast a propaganda radio programme ‘Germany Calling’ in the English language which was broadcasted to audiences in the UK on a medium wave station in Hamburg and by a shortwave in the United States. The British people were led to believe he was betraying the country. However, documentation has come to light that the broadcasts he made were all messages for Great Britain. Evidence points that he had a prior agreement with MI5 that when he returned to the UK all would be OK…but that was not to be!

Joyce was arrested and tried for treason in September 1945 and found guilty on 19 September 1945. Although MI5 kept making promises that “all would be ok” his case in the Court of Appeal was refused. The Government then assured that when the case would go to the House of Lords all would be “put right”. However, before the House of Lords announced their verdict he was hanged on 6 January 1946 as obviously it would be embarrassing for the British Government if the truth came to light.

Giovanni Di Stefano met with his daughter Heather who showed him all the documentation to prove that her father was no traitor and documents that were thought to be coveted by the Government. Before his daughter died she gave Giovanni Di Stefano power of attorney to clear her father’s name. In memory of his daughter Heather Iandolo (maiden name Joyce) this docufiction puts this injustice right and clears his name.

We need €150,000 to complete this docufiction. We have already outlaid €50,000 therefore we are a quarter of the way there.  The amount raised from this campaign goes right back into production.  One of the main reasons we need this amount of money is due to the fact that this is a historical piece. Listed below is a description of why and where your money will be going!

The Impact

The impact of this docufiction will set the record straight as Lord Haw Haw namely William Joyce did not commit treason and did not deserve to be hung. We want to show the citizens of the world how treacherous governments can be/are not only in the UK but around the world by misleading the general public and hopefully, this will generate more docufictions on other miscarriages of justice.
