GRIND is a cosmic horror comedy about a group of college students holding a grindhouse film festival
****NEW STRETCH GOAL – $45,000****
Welcome to the cosmic horror comedy GRIND!! Thank you so much for considering our campaign.
Our film follows a group of college students holding a midnight grindhouse film festival. As the festival ramps up, they discover a cursed arthouse film called “The Creeping Chaos.” As with any good old fashioned horror movie, they make the mistake of playing the film and unleashing absolute chaos.
Our film is scheduled to begin shooting late 2024 on location in Pittsburgh, PA. Once completed, we are aiming for theatrical distribution with the final product.
The film stars actress/producer Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Victor Crowley); Lynn Lowry (Shivers, Cat People, The Crazies); Ginger Lynn Allen (The Devil’s Rejects, Murdercise, Slashorette Party); actor/producer Brian Ceponis (Done Waiting, Wolf Hollow); Molly Souza (Late Checkout, Slashorette Party), Heather Lynn Rizzo (Wolf Hollow); Chanda Rawlings (Bloody Summer Camp; Dark Circles, Go Away), Daniel John Kearney (Dark Circles, Time’s Up, Wolf Hollow), Kay Leahy (Bloody Summer Camp); Stanton Rutledge (The Fast and The Furious, Done Waiting); actor/producer Brian Bell (Wolf Hollow, Arena Wars, Devil’s Knight), actress/co-producer August Kyss (Murdercise, Killbots), Daniel Ebeling, Delilah Hefner, actor/co-producer Dennis Manning, Sarah Kobuck, Anthony Babeaux, April Golebiewski (Massacre Academy, Wolf Hollow) and Annette Elphinstone.
Principal photography will begin late 2024 on location in Pittsburgh, PA. Behind the scenes, our creative team at Cineworx consists of co-writer/director Mark Cantu (Massacre Academy, Wolf Hollow); producers Felissa Rose and Daniel John Kearney; co-writer/producers Brian Bell and Brian Ceponis; co-writer Lance Reedinger of Horror-Nation.com; and executive producers Scott Alan Ward (Craving, Macabre Mountain, Wolf Hollow, Isleen Pines) and Kent Collins (Go Away, Crust, New Fears Eve, The Slasher Nurse).
What We Need & What You Get
Our goal for the GRIND campaign is fairly simple.
- Achieve our initial fundraising goal of $25,000 US Dollars through Indiegogo
- For this, you get plenty of chances at production t-shirts, memorabilia used in our film, production access, and the chance to act with some of our horror icons.
- Once our campaign meets our initial goal to get us trending on Indiegogo, we will announce Stretch Goals as well as new secret perks in order to get us over the $100,000 US Dollars threshold.
The Impact
One of the greatest strengths our Cineworx team has is owning our own gear, whether it be Kowa series Anamorphic lenses, Canon L series glass or lighting. This ownership allows us to not spend any campaign funds on equipment rentals–which can be costly and add up very quickly. Instead, we put contributions where they will have maximum impact:
- Special Makeup FX and gore!!
- On-screen Talent
- Rental Fees for Locations/Local Businesses
- Costuming
- Catering/travel expenses
Campaign contributions will allow us to continue showcasing the homegrown talents of Pittsburgh filmmakers. All campaign funds raised will go towards helping support local businesses in Pittsburgh, Mckeesport and the North Versailles area.
Risks & Challenges
The ultimate goal with GRIND is to land a theatrical distribution deal with the widest possible audience. This means, above all else, being able to deliver a viable product at the end of post-production that must withstand Quality Assurance with any distribution company and attract an audience in the horror marketplace.
So how do we stand out?
Our team here at Cineworx believes that our unique blend of comedy, cosmic horror and cheesy grindhouse films will be the catalyst for this film being a massive success.
One of the other ways we plan to attract a massive audience is to cast major horror icons throughout the film in supporting and cameo roles as the campaign hits the initial fundraising goal or meets any stretch goals.
Given our track record in the horror industry with previous film such as the 80s slasher comedy MASSACRE ACADEMY and the massively successful WOLF HOLLOW (distributed through Gravitas Ventures), we are confident our team is ready to bring cosmic horror and comedy together like never before.
As a member of the Indie Horror community, we value transparency and our reputation as stand-up filmmakers. Above all else, we make ourselves available to you, even before you make your contribution.
We encourage you to ask any questions regarding our plans for screenings and distribution.
