SCENARIO
Thirty years of global summits and pledges have not mitigated our current climate emergency. We continue to feel the heat waves, frequent fires and floods and we are approaching a point of no return. Thus in 2023, a group of extraordinary citizens, ‘The Avengers of the Climate Crisis’, led by Time Magazine’s first Hero of Our Planet, the legendary Dr. Sylvia Earle, are taking matters into their own hands to avert a Climate Armageddon. Their mission is to formulate a set of effective resolutions to chart a transformative course for global net zero emissions by 2035 and secure a better future for their loved ones.
2099 Living Our Legacy, is a film about a convergence of great minds at the frontlines of the climate crisis. Antarctica is melting, threatening catastrophic sea level rise, economic disaster and the very existence of a habitable planet. The massive Thwaites Glacier in West Antarctica is at imminent risk of demise, and its collapse would cause 60cm of immediate sea level rise, resulting in the displacement of millions of people with coastal homes and the destruction of sea-level cities and countries. This isn’t just another film about climate change or the Antarctic. This movie reveals the power of the collective human spirit to change the future.
SYNOPSIS
In February 2023, a group of 110 leaders in art, science, politics, engineering, economics, and education led by Dr. Sylvia Earle will embark on the Antarctic Climate Epic (ACE). During the journey, the Climate Avengers will use their collective superpowers and spirit to formulate 23 achievable resolutions for everyone to adopt and achieve global NET ZERO by 2035. By changing the current trajectory, they will protect our planet’s natural splendor and work to sustain a habitable planet for our future loved ones, allowing them to see Antarctica in 2099 as we witness it in 2023.
This film will document the collective efforts of The Avengers of the Climate Crisis and highlight the human spirit and the power of love. The ACE team is a highly motivated group determined to make a positive difference for humanity, but they can’t do this alone. They need your support for two important reasons.
- To help fund the production of this feature documentary for the global mainstream television release in December of 2023.
- To help fund the attendance of an indigenous next-generation leader and a young leader from a small developing island nation that is threatened by sea level rise.
Any contribution you make to our fundraising campaign will go directly towards covering the expenses associated with inviting these young next-generation leaders and producing the documentary.
We have already secured financing to the tune of $250,000, enough to ensure that no matter the outcome of our continued fundraising efforts, this expedition will be filmed. We even have a primary film team in place including award-winning journalist, filmmaker, and television presenter, Craig Leeson, as a co-Producer along with wildlife photographer, explorer, and ocean advocate, Michael AW, documentary cinematographer, Juan Romero, as our Director of Photography, and NOAA videographer and independent filmmaker, Caitlin Bailey, as Assistant Director. Any additional capital obtained through this crowdfunding effort will assist in creating the most compelling story possible, as well as securing the post-production and editing of this important piece of work.
We have what amounts to a nanosecond in human history to save ourselves, and everyone who comes after us. Humanity has precious few years to halt the rise of planet-warming carbon emissions and less than a decade to slash them almost in half if we are to mitigate global warming and ensure a habitable planet.
2099 Living Our Legacy delves into what we can and must do to preserve a habitable planet for our future loved one. We invite you to join us on this epic. Here are 10 ways you can be part of the action by supporting The Avengers of the Climate Crisis. This can be your Legacy for humanity.
