Be a part of ending cervical cancer – donate today to help launch a new innovative medical device!

Story

Our why

The Ford Medtech mission is to support the World Health Organization’s goal of a “cervical cancer-free future.” My name is Jackie Ford, MD. I am an OBGYN physician and I have been helping women for over 20 years.

We are launching a 31 days of giving campaign during cervical cancer awareness month (January 2024). Our why is simple. Cervical cancer is 100% preventable. Sadly, each year approximately 4,000 women in the U.S. die of cervical cancer and over 300,000 globally. This is 300,000 deaths too many. I believe that each patient’s health matters. It matters to her, to her family, and to her community.

Our ask

We are seeking donors to help us to launch an innovative investigational medical device.

  • The investigational device has been designed to aid in the examination for cervical cancer so every woman can live her best life, a healthy life.
  • Our goal is to reach $ 200,000 which will enable Ford Medtech to reach our project timeline milestones to submit the investigational device application to the FDA in early 2024, finish the 90-day FDA review and obtain FDA clearance by May 2024.
  • Each dollar of the funds raised will support the required manufacturing and pre-production testing (for biocompatibility, human factor/usability and packaging testing) as well as the FDA submission process.

Our impact

This campaign is essential to help us prepare for our May 2024 milestones and product launch at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting (May 17-19, 2024).

  • Women with redundant/lax vaginal tissue (i.e., those experiencing obesity and others) may have a limited view of the cervix for pap smear collection and cervical sampling.
  • We have developed a simple, easy-to-use investigational device alternative to the currently used inadequate methods of retracting lax/redundant tissue during the frequently performed speculum examination of the cervix.
  • Our investigational device, once marketed, will allow the physician to have increased visualization of the cervix for optimal examination, pap smear collection and sampling.
  • We are doing this work to help achieve a cervical cancer-free future.

Our challenge

While cervical cancer is entirely preventable, many women do not yet obtain routine preventative screening or may be inadequately screened.

  • We are in this space to champion our investigational device and to spread awareness about cervical cancer prevention.
  • We want to help women with challenging gynecology exams by providing better tools to their doctors allowing them to optimize their pap smear collection and detection of pre-cancer and cancer of the cervix.

Our takeaway

Thank you for your gift today. You can help us by:

  • Spreading the word about cervical cancer prevention.
  • Spreading the word about our 31 days of giving campaign.
  • Spreading the word about our investigational device.
  • Spreading the word about our social media.
