Concept

Two alien species with a history of hatred for each other, must work together to save their planets.

Story

Alien Planet is a sci-fi adventure film with a meaningful story that mirrors struggles found within humanity. There is one big difference between this film and other science fiction movies, which is that Alien Planet has no humans. It is packed with practical effects makeup, monster suits, and puppets.

In this story, two different alien species are out of water. They must travel to a dangerous world in order to find the key to rejuvenating their planets with sustainable drinking water. Can they put their differences aside in order to survive this hostile new planet? And will they figure out a way to save both of their dying worlds? Danger lurks around every corner as the extinction of their civilizations loom ever closer.

Because this film has so many practical effects, we need your help! Makeup for characters like this is an investment. This is a full length feature film, so we will need at least 2-3 weeks to shoot this movie.

All contributions will go towards gear like cameras and lights, sets, props, costumes, makeup, blood and MORE BLOOD. And, most importantly, I have to pay my cast and crew. As you saw in the spec trailer, we have a very experienced and professional crew involved in this movie. Since I will be taking up all of their precious time for 2-3 weeks, they will need to be compensated like on any other job.

All of these things add up quickly, and money does not stretch far when making a movie. So the more money we have, the better this film will be!

If you believe in this project and want to see it get made, you have multiple awesome perks to choose from as a thank you for your contribution. Almost all of the perks include receiving an actual copy of the movie and having your name in it. Getting a producer credit in this film is a very special perk because I genuinely cannot make this movie without YOUR help! So I have set the producer credits at a very low cost in the perks because I believe it is well deserved by you.

This is my third film as a writer & director. The biggest challenge we will face is time. No matter how prepared we are, film making takes time. It takes time to set up the location, light the scene, rehearse the actors and to actually film it so we get the best performance. We have a little extra challenge involved in this film because every character is in heavy makeup. These prosthetics take multiple hours to get into and make them look realistic. This all adds time. Luckily, this is not my first rodeo. Not only have a I made 2 films before this, but I am also a creature actor myself. I have been in the makeup chair more times than I can count. With my experience I am well equipped to have the most thorough pre-production and I am connected with the most talented cast and crew to execute my vision. I know these challenges are not easy. However, with the right preparation, planning and your support, we can definitely hurdle any obstacles. AND WE WILL! 🙂

I know that not everyone who reads this will be able to contribute. Whether or not you’re able to contribute financially, please do the campaign a giant favor and share this page and our spec trailer with as many people as you can. In particular, share it with people you believe would love to see this movie come to life. Share it with your nerdy friends, your goofy uncles, cool aunts and share it with the person you wanna have a movie night with! The more eyes on this campaign, the more money we can raise, and therefore, the better our movie will be!

Everyone involved would love to see this thing go viral and make sci-fi history, and we want you with us!

If you have any questions please reach out to me and I will absolutely answer everything I can!

Alien Planet will be my third film as writer & director. This is my biggest and most expensive film yet. My first film was Christmas with Cookie made for only $1,000, and if you know anything about how much it costs to make a movie, you know that’s next to nothing! My next film was a higher budget short film called Patina. This had a much more serious tone than my first film. I wrote and directed that as a stepping stone for Alien Planet. I wanted to create something of deeper substance before attacking such a big project like Alien Planet.

Along with my directing credits, I have 14 years of professional post-production experience under my belt. I have edited countless hours of television such as 50 Years of Star Trek for The History Channel, The Late Late Show with James Corden on CBS, History of Horror for AMC, and many more shows from GSN to Oxygen. My years of experience as an actor and editor will be the biggest asset to this film’s success.

Here are the trailers for my first two films:

Patina:

Christmas with Cookie:

Hunter C. Smith is a talented actor and stunt performer who’s brought to life a multitude of diverse characters. My personal favorite performance of Hunter’s is when he performed live motion capture as a Sith Jet Trooper (with me!) at the red carpet premier of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This man has talent and knows how to use it. He tackled Brocheet in this spec trailer and nailed the essence of the character perfectly!

Alexandra Bokova began her career at the age of 8, hosting a popular children’s TV show in Russia. She’s most well known for her stellar performance as the mermaid in Mermaid Down. You can also see her in the Solara music video for the Smashing Pumpkins and the fantastic thriller By Light of Desert Night. We are extremely excited to have her bring to life the character of Lock!

Richard Dorton is known as the “Mocap Man”for a reason. Over the past 20 years, he has brought to life countless characters in video games and films. His biggest motion capture performances include Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, Silent Hill: Homecoming and Ghostbusters. He was also my left-headed Ghidorah brother in 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. When he agreed to be in this movie, he only had one stipulation, which was “I’m in as long as my name can be K’ven.” I hope Godzilla fans will get a kick out of that Easter egg.

Daniel Masterson is not only a talented actor, but is also an acclaimed martial artist and stunt man. I met Daniel on set for a toy commercial. I was a robot, he was a ninja, and he kicked my ass! He brings so much heart to the character of Kaak,  which you see shine in our trailer!

Donald Russell is a classically trained actor with a long list of impressive stage credits, and you may have also seen him in Days of Our Lives. His powerful performance in the trailer marks his feature film debut. Best death scene ever!

Kailey Portsmouth is a producer and landscape photographer. She has captured some of the most beautiful scenes in nature from Los Angeles to New Zealand. She will be putting her eyes and talent into the look of this movie. With beautiful on site locations planned, our aliens will truly feel like they are on an otherworldly planet.

Colin Kelly has been working in the camera department for major films and TV for over 20 years. He is responsible for the beautiful lighting and footage in our spec trailer along with his work on Patina in 2019. Before that he was assistant camera for Captain America: The First Avenger, CSI: NY and countless other movies and television shows. This man knows how to make every frame pop and he will be doing just that on Alien Planet.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for taking the time to read over what I have planned for Alien Planet. Please remember to donate and share this page with as many people as you can. Every penny and eyeball on our trailer helps. Thank you and WELCOME TO THE TEAM!
