Sobre la historia:

Ángel es un joven solitario que deambula de noche por las calles de Tijuana. Él sueña con dejarlo todo y emprender un viaje, un camino que lo aleje de la dura realidad en la que está inmerso. Ángel ha aprendido desde muy joven que la forma más sencilla de sobrevivir, es ejerciendo el oficio de la prostitución masculina, esto no le molesta ni lo hace feliz, lo que siente es más bien resignación, no es una víctima, ni se asume como tal. Lu, es una joven artista plástica homosexual que siente por Ángel un amor especial; él se ha convertido en su objeto de inspiración, este enamoramiento es para ella una sorpresa pues nunca antes había sentido atracción por un hombre. A través de Lu conocemos el pasado de Ángel y los detonantes de su presente. Ellos construyen una relación más allá de una cuestión carnal, se trata de una conexión espiritual; donde la sorpresa de este enamoramiento, se transformará en una dolorosa despedida. Pues Ángel, parte para no volver y ella tendrá que entender que soltar y dejar ir, es el acto más puro de amar.

About the history:

Ángel is a lonely young man who wanders at night through the streets of Tijuana. He dreams of leaving everything and embarking on a journey, a path that takes him away from the harsh reality in which he is immersed. Ángel has learned from a very young age that the simplest way to survive is by practicing the trade of male prostitution, this does not bother him or make him happy, what he feels is rather resignation, he is not a victim, nor does he assume himself as such . Lu, is a young homosexual plastic artist who feels a special love for Ángel; he has become her object of inspiration, this infatuation is a surprise for her because she has never felt attraction to a man before. Through Lu we learn about Ángel’s past and the triggers for his present. They build a relationship beyond a carnal issue, it is a spiritual connection; where the surprise of this crush will turn into a painful farewell. Well, Angel, leaves to never return and she will have to understand that letting go and letting go is the purest act of loving.

Sobre el proyecto:

Ángel está recorriendo un largo camino para llegar a filmarse. La idea de este proyecto surge en 2015 gracias a que fui beneficiado de una beca otorgada por el Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA) en la categoría de “Actor en Cine y Video”, pero fue hasta el 2019 que tuve la oportunidad de asistir a la segunda residencia para guionistas en el estado de Sonora en la cual terminé de escribir el guion gracias a las valiosas asesorías de increíbles maestros dentro de la residencia.

Y gracias a que a principios este año fuimos el proyecto seleccionado para la región 1, en la emisión número 20 del Concurso Nacional de Cortometrajes por Regiones que otorga el Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía (IMCINE), es que por fin estamos cerca de poder filmar esta historia.

En este momento estamos en la etapa de preproducción, uniendo esfuerzos de varios profesionales que han confiado en este proyecto, empezando con la productora Érika Ávila, con más de nueve películas producidas y una veintena de cortometrajes y el fotógrafo Iván Hernández, un experimentado fotógrafo con más de siete películas y varias series en su filmografía.

About the project:
Angel is going a long way to get to be filmed. The idea for this project arose in 2015 thanks to the fact that I was benefited from a scholarship granted by the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) in the category of “Actor in Film and Video”, but it was until 2019 that I had the opportunity to attend the second residency for screenwriters in the state of Sonora in which I finished writing the script thanks to the valuable advice of incredible teachers within the residence.
And thanks to the fact that at the beginning of this year we were the selected project for region 1, in the 20th broadcast of the National Short Film Competition by Regions awarded by the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (IMCINE), we are finally close to being able to film this history.
At this moment we are in the pre-production stage, joining the efforts of several professionals who have trusted in this project, starting with the producer Érika Ávila, with more than nine films produced and about twenty short films and the photographer Iván Hernández, an experienced photographer with more than seven films and several series in his filmography.

Objetivo de la campaña:

Con esta campaña buscamos completar el presupuesto necesario para poder filmar nuestro cortometraje bajo las normas de seguridad necesarias para el bienestar tanto del crew como del talento.

Hoze Meléndez

Actor, egresado de la Licenciatura en Teatro de la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California. Recibió el premio Ariel otorgado por la Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas como mejor “Coactuación Masculina” en 2017 por su participación en el largometraje Almacenados de Jack Zagha. Nominado por segunda ocasión al Premio Ariel como Mejor Coactuación Masculina en 2018 por su trabajo en “Sueño en Otro Idioma” de Ernesto Contreras. Y nominado por tercera ocasión en 2019 por su trabajo en Mente Revólver. En 2015 fue becario del Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA) en la categoría de Creador Escénico como Actor en Cine y Video. Resultó ganador en la categoría de Teatro del “Premio Innovación y Juventud en las Artes 2011” convocado por Tijuana Innovadora. En 2019 formó parte de la II Residencia para Guionistas organizada por el Instituto Sonorense de Cultura en la ciudad de Hermosillo y participó en la quinta edición del “Careyes Creation Lab” organizado por la Cátedra Bergman y el Festival Internacional de Cine de la UNAM.

Actor, graduated from the Bachelor’s Degree in Theater from the Faculty of Arts of the Autonomous University of Baja California. He received the Ariel Award from the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the best “Male Co-Acting” in 2017 for his participation in the feature film “Almacenados” by Jack Zagha. Nominated for the second time for the Ariel Award for Best Male Co-Acting in 2018 for his work in “Sueño en Otro Idioma” by Ernesto Contreras. And nominated for the third time in 2019 for his work on “Mente Revólver”. In 2015 he was a fellow of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) in the category of Scenic Creator as Actor in Film and Video. He was the winner in the Theater category of the “Innovation and Youth in the Arts Award 2011” organized by Tijuana Innovadora. In 2019 he was part of the II Residency for Screenwriters organized by the Sonoran Institute of Culture in the city of Hermosillo and participated in the fifth edition of the “Careyes Creation Lab” organized by the Bergman Chair and the UNAM International Film Festival.

Érika Ávila.

Comunicóloga egresada del Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente. Es también egresada en Cinematografía por el Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos de la UNAM. Es productora de Sueño en otro idioma, dirigida por Ernesto Contreras, ganadora del premio del público del Festival de Sundance en 2017 entre otros premios nacionales e internacionales. Es productora Un mundo Secreto, cinta Seleccionada en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Berlín en la sección Generation, 2012. Párpados Azules, su primer largometraje como productora ganó el premio Ariel a la Mejor Ópera Prima, el premio especial del jurado del Sundance Film Festival, el premio al Mejor Largometraje Iberoamericano en el Festival de Guadalajara, y la nominación a la Cámara de Oro del Festival de Cannes en 2007 donde se presentó en la Semana de la Crítica. Ha producido una decena de largometrajes y una veintena de cortometrajes. Ha sido jurado de numerosos fondos nacionales e internacionales, asesora de desarrollo de proyectos y maestra de producción cinematográfica en las más importantes escuelas de cine en México.

Paralelamente ha desarrollado una carrera como Diseñadora de producción de decenas de películas, cortometrajes, publicidad y videoclips de 2008 a la fecha.

Communicologist graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente. She is also a graduate in Cinematography from the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos of the UNAM. She is the producer of “Sueño en otro idioma”, directed by Ernesto Contreras, winner of the Audience Award at the Sundance Festival in 2017 among other national and international awards. She is a producer for “Un mundo Secreto”, a film Selected at the Berlin International Film Festival in the Generation section, 2012.  “Párpados Azules”, her first feature film as a producer won the Ariel Award for Best First Feature, the special award from the Sundance Film Festival jury , the award for Best Ibero-American Feature Film at the Guadalajara Film Festival, and the nomination for the Golden Camera at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007 where it was presented at Critics’ Week. He has produced a dozen feature films and a score of short films. She has been a jury member for numerous national and international funds, project development advisor and film production teacher at the most important film schools in Mexico.
At the same time, she has developed a career as a Production Designer for dozens of films, short films, advertising and video clips from 2008 to date.

Iván Hernández

Iván Hernández González es cinefotógrafo Mexicano, miembro de la Sociedad Mexicana de Autores de Fotografía Cinematográfica AMC. Establecido en la Ciudad de México, egresado de la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas FAD y de la escuela de cine de la Universidad CUEC-UNAM. Su trabajo parte de la labor documental y cinematográfica, participando en una decena de largometrajes entre los que se destacan un premio Ariel a mejor opera prima y varios premios tanto en festivales nacionales como internacionales.

      Su trabajo va del realismo-naturalista nutrido del fotoperiodismo a la exploración más estilizada y oscura en su carrera, que corre entre el Cine, la publicidad, la fotografía subacuática y la televisión lo cual lo ha llevado a trabajar en Estados Unidos, España y Latinoamérica; donde su último proyecto estrenado, “Diablero”, para Netflix demuestra la riqueza de su fotografía así como sus habilidades técnicas en el campo práctico de la realización.

Iván Hernández González is a Mexican cinematographer, member of the Mexican Society of Authors of Cinematographic Photography AMC. Established in Mexico City, graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas FAD and the Universidad CUEC-UNAM film school. His work is based on documentary and cinematographic work, participating in a dozen feature films, among which an Ariel award for best first work and several awards both at national and international festivals stand out.

      His work ranges from naturalist-realism nurtured by photojournalism to the most stylized and dark exploration in his career, which runs between cinema, advertising, underwater photography and television, which has led him to work in the United States, Spain and Latin America. ; where his latest released project, “Diablero”, for Netflix demonstrates the richness of his photography as well as his technical skills in the practical field of filmmaking.

Es importante mencionar que la mayor parte del crew y del talento que participará en el cortometraje tanto al frente como detrás de cámara serán elementos de Baja California.

¿Para qué necesitamos el dinero?

A pesar de que contamos con el apoyo del IMCINE para filmar nuestro corto, su contribución es importantísima debido al incremento en los gastos de producción que surgen a partir de esta crisis sanitaria, el dinero recaudado en esta plataforma será destinado específicamente a cubrir con las medidas necesarias en esta nueva normalidad en el set, las cuales se traducen en el bienestar y la seguridad tanto del Talento como del Crew.

What do we need the money for?
