In the heart of Cameroon, a transformative project is about to take shape – AQUA PARC VILLAGE, Cameroon’s first-ever entertainment water park designed especially for underprivileged children. It is a movement on a mission to provide entertainment for less privilege kids, promote tourism, and create a lasting impact on the community of Douala. Douala is a beautiful mix of old and new. Locals are friendly, and you’ll find a bit of everything – from traditional charm, modern energy to the greenest landscapes. Douala is in  Cameroon, a country engulfed in the calming waves of the famous Atlantic Ocean.

 

The Vision

The vision is a tasking but conquerable one, to create a vibrant outdoor water park nestled in the green heart of Douala – AQUA PARC VILLAGE, a sanctuary for children who, until now, played in a wasteland amidst dangerous truck roads. The vision emerged after witnessing the harsh reality faced by these children during Ramadan. A dream was born, not just to build a water park but to provide a safe haven where laughter echoes louder than hardships.

 

What We Need & What You Get

AQUA PARC VILLAGE aims to raise a minimum of $150,000 through Indiegogo to initiate the project. This funding will serve as a starting point, and we aspire to surpass this goal, extending the project from kickoff until successful completion.

What You Get

As a gesture of appreciation, certain contributors will have their names proudly displayed on our “Patrons’ Plaque” within the resort. Additionally, all contributors will be eligible to receive our non-profit certificate of recognition, our custom designed t-shirt and cap, and updates on the progresses made. At the $1000 reward level (and above) all donors will receive our natural fruit-based wine, sourced directly from Douala. We have a wide range of rewards to ensure that your support is recognized and rewarded.

With dual goals of fostering family bonds and offering a safe, educational, and fun experience for the down trodden, the water park becomes a catalyst for positive change. It’s not just about fun; it’s about building the Cameroonian economy and contributing to the welfare of the locals.

 

Our Journey

The journey began with a realization after 30 years away from home – the desperate need for a safe space for children to play. A wasteland amid danger was their only playground.  To make matters worse, the wasteland was in the middle of dangerous truck roads. Upon asking around, I was told that the wasteland was provided by the mayor for children to play during Ramadan, and that there was no other public place for children to play in the city. This was heartbreaking so through my non-profit organization, I decided to establish AQUA PARC VILLAGE in Douala, to provide children, especially those from less-privileged backgrounds, with a safe space to play and have fun.

 

The Plan

Our hope is to attract people interested in helping us provide this resource to local families and to also encourage tourism. It will be a fantastic place full of fun and adventures. We have developed a strong business plan. We have the energy and the motivation to build on our dream to see this water park become a reality.

 

AQUA PARC VILLAGE will be strategically located, close to essential amenities, making it accessible to all. Funds raised will be used to purchase equipment, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, can revel in the ultimate fun experience. We have faith that our friends across the world will see our project as a positive contribution to further build Cameroon.

 

Monthly Events and Inclusivity

Once completed, AQUA PARC VILLAGE will host monthly events funded through donations, ensuring that underprivileged children can access the waterpark for free. Collaboration with non-governmental organizations will extend invitations to autistic children and their caregivers, creating an inclusive space for everyone to enjoy.

About The Founder

 

I’m Nina. I grew up in a regular family, and my dad worked hard to send me to study in Europe. Two decades in the IT world have refined my skills, but it’s the bond with my two children that fuels my commitment to this cause.

 

As someone who is passionate about her homeland, I always wanted to help kids in Cameroon. Instead of just creating an association, I went for something different – a fair economy. It’s like a mix of donors who pay early for tickets for kids who need help, and investors who aren’t just about making money.

 

This idea led to a park, a cool spot that’s all about keeping green spaces safe and being a family hangout. We’re going all-in on eco-friendly stuff like solar panels, boreholes, and recycling water.

 

With my sister, we run “Femme d’Avenir,” helping women in tough spots start their own businesses. The park is like the next chapter, adding a fair economy twist to what we’re already doing.

The most touching of our works can be seen in the image above, Femme d’Avenir helped a woman with four kids, who at a time fought cancer, to set up a little shop. Sadly, the cancer came back stronger, and she passed away.
