OUR STORY

Inspired by his time as a mountaineering guide in Iceland, our founder, Sam came up with a sustainable organic granola bar made up of superfoods which contains all the nutrients you need to get through the workday or the most gnarly of adventures. The best part? It still tastes amazing!

Along with Sam’s life-long best friend, Jason, the pair have embarked on a journey to create the most tasty, healthy, and sustainable snack bar on the market today.

A great tasting bar starts with great ingredients. We use a medjool date base with a tiny bit of local honey and balance it with roasted oats, nuts, and seeds. This combination is chewy, yet crunchy and takes your mouth on a flavor adventure with initial savoriness from the oats, nuts, and seeds followed by a tiny bit of all-natural sweetness from the dates, and finishes off with a hint of salt. It’s almost like having a three course meal from a five star restaurant in your pocket. Dare we say… better than?

BALANCED NUTRITION FOR SUSTAINED ENERGY

With how great our bars taste, it’s hard to believe that they’re actually good for you. We jam pack these things full of super foods to give you a bar that will keep your body functioning right and your mind alert no matter what you’re doing. We only use whole ingredients free of preservatives so that you know what you’re eating is 100% all-natural food. Currently our bars have a 4.5:1 carb to protein ratio which is considered ideal for sustained energy. With your help, we’ll also be adding a plant-based protein bar to get those muscles tuned up faster than a NASCAR pit stop. 

PACKAGING THAT TURNS TO DIRT

It seems pretty irresponsible to us as outdoor adventures to have such an amazing packaged product, but to be contributing to the billions of metric tons of plastic that ends up in nature every year. That’s why we’ve worked hard to ensure that every single one of our snacks comes in plant-based compostable packaging. Not only is it compostable, but it comes from FSC certified sustainably managed forests so that our wrappers have the lowest impact on the planet through their entire lifecycle.

Currently, Sam and Jason are in the kitchen after-hours each night, making every bar by hand. In order to keep up with demand, we need to up our production capabilities which means purchasing bar forming and wrapping machines.

These machines will be able to handle our plant-based compostable packaging and give us the ability to increase our production from 120,000 bars per year, to around 5 million without sacrificing our handmade taste and texture.

With your help, we will be able to add protein bars and two additional flavors to our lineup, get our gluten-free and organic certifications, continue our mission to rid the snack bar industry of single-use non-recyclable plastics, and provide living-wage jobs to our rural mountain community in Colorado.

The growing snack bar industry is extremely wasteful and energy inefficient. One garbage truck’s worth of plastic is dumped into the ocean every minute and over 2 billion unrecyclable plastic bar wrappers end up in nature every year. The top three CO2 producers in the world are from power production, agriculture, and forestry. We’re on a mission to change this.

OUR PACKAGING IS MADE FROM PLANT-BASED MATERIALS AND IS 100% COMPOSTABLE

All of our packaging is made from plant-based materials from FSC certified sustainably managed forests and is 100% compostable and our boxes are 100% recycled and free of any plastic tape. This takes care of many negative effects from plastic and petroleum based products, forestry, and agriculture. However, we’re also slated to decrease our power consumption. 

With your help, we have plans to turn our manufacturing facility into a completely off the grid facility powered by solar and wind. We will also implement grey water treatment and rain/snow water collection so that we will truly be making the most sustainable snack bar in the world.
