Concept

We’re designing and building an amazing new beer garden in the open space we have in Corrales, NM!

Story

A Little About Us

Ex Novo Brewing Company started in 2014 in Portland, OR and expanded with its second brewery in Corrales, NM in 2019. Founder Joel Gregory grew up in Corrales, and enjoys being close to (4!) generations of his family that live here. We have made it through the worst of the pandemic, but it will still be awhile before restrictions are fully lifted, and we want to begin on phase 1.5 of our plan to bring great beer to an amazing space where it can be enjoyed in our new outdoor bar and beer garden.

To utilize the space we have on our 3 acre property in Corrales, we need to extend beyond the patio and small taproom we’ve been using since opening almost two years ago. We have a great concept for this expansion, but do not have all the funds required to complete the project.

This is where you come in! We need Ex Novo believers, who have either experienced our beer or space first hand, or just appreciate what we’re trying to do to make our community a little bit better.

What We Need & What You Get

We have preliminary project costs, but as we know with our past experience with these projects, the budget will undoubtedly swell. We are trying to raise at least $60,000, which after campaign costs, can cover at least half of the project cost. These include: architecture and design, construction of buildings and shade structures, equipment, tables and chairs, landscaping, lighting, etc. However, the more we are able to raise, the better the beer garden will be, and we hope you get to enjoy that in person! Imagine you’re getting to help fund your new living room 😉 We will be spending 100% of the funds raised on the beer garden, and will have significant buy-in from our business as well, but we don’t think we can get there alone. This year has been…sub-optimal to say the least.

We have some pretty killer ideas for perks for this campaign. We’re fortunate enough to have the talented JB as Creative Director on our staff, and if you’ve seen our merch and label designs, you know we can put together some great looking stuff! Outside of swag and wearables, we have some unique experiences to offer, and we’ll be pulling out all the stops to make these experiences simply unforgettable!

If we don’t reach our goal, all of the funds will still be used to construct the beer garden, but a full funding ensures we achieve the standard we’re planning on, with a grand opening in Summer ’21.

Perks greater than $100 automatically get an invite for (1) to our pre-opening bash when construction is complete, before opening to the public.

The Impact

This beer garden is the unfolding of our full  vision for our Corrales property. The reason we bought a 3-acre property in the first place was to take advantage of the feeling of open space, less crowding, and expansive views. You’ll experience unobstructed views of the Sandia Mountains, almost an acre of grass and trees, and twice the number of seats we have currently at our taproom. This expansion will be good for our business, but it will also be good for our community, providing a place where small or large groups can gather (post-COVID restrictions) without worrying if there will be enough room. We’ve already begun booking wedding receptions and larger events. It will be huge for us to be able to accommodate these major life events without having to close for business, as we can keep the taproom open if the Beer Garden is rented.

The truth is, we are not a start-up, and we have shown by our track record that we know how to manage our projects and create memorable spaces with the 3 locations we currently have. We’ve never been a company that is going to build a cookie-cutter concept in a cookie-cutter building; the Ex Novo experience is meant to make you feel something, and we think this area will really resonate with what people are looking for!

We’re also excited to build our team! A second bar and more space means more jobs! We pride ourselves as being good to our team, and taking care of our employees – we would love to be able to grow our team in this way.

Is There Risk?

Construction projects have a tendency to go over budget. Even if we fall short of our goal, we will complete the project, it just will not include all of the design elements we’d like to see.

We will be able to deliver on all of our perks, because we are already open. There is always risk in committing to any sort of timeline, as we’re captive to the timeline of permits, inspections and getting the work completed quickly. Even if we end up missing the summer, which would make us sad, we will have more built-in heaters installed and will have a place that is still excellent, even in the colder months.

Other Ways You Can Help

Even if it’s just $10, every contribution helps in getting us closer to our goal.

Spread the good word! Share on your social media platforms and email lists and make some noise for us; we really want the whole area to hear about this project. Indiegogo has really great share tools too!
