You’ve finally found a way in, to the home of the spirits and the fae, the Betwixt and Between… A tangled and uncharted web of strange places, where most peculiar creatures dwell. Be wary; this land is steeped in ancient magic, and you’re far from alone in here…
Betwixt & Between is a strategic adventure board game for 1-4 players, mixing eerie European folklore with magical creativity and euro-inspired mechanics.
Players will take on the roles of mystics, having found their way into this strange land to explore and harness its magical essence.
Throughout the game players will unfold their mystics’ story by drafting exploration cards that determine what they discover and might encounter.
Players must cleverly combine card placement with character movement to create dynamic combinations in order to interact with the otherworldly beings and absorb magic.
The players build on their magic weave to uphold spells that evolve their mystic with new abilities and points.
Only the most cunning and skilled mystic wins the game!
The game is played throughout 3 rounds. Each round starts with the Discovery Phase in which players draft Exploration Cards by drawing 5 cards each, picking one to keep, then passing the cards around in clockwise order, repeating this process until everyone has chosen 4 cards each.
The players then flip their 5th and last Exploration Card to its back and in turn order sets up a rite together by aligning the leftover cards into a square formation. This will be a way to get points throughout this round.
Players then take turns playing one Exploration Card to any empty space on the Game Board, collecting the discovery bonus of the card, and move their mystic pawn up to two steps to perform the actions of the spaces encountered.
A player may at any time draw one magic from an adjacent space during their turn, and use Absorb Cards to draw additional magic, as well as gain benefits from their upheld spells.
The players will then pass the turn to the next player while building on their magic weave in order to uphold Spells that evolve their mystic with new abilities and points.
Once all players run out of Exploration Cards, the round ends, and players may score additional Victory Points by sacrificing magic to the Rite!

We want to use the half year of development we have left to keep on tweaking and balancing the game with the support and feedback of the backer community. After the campaign all backers will be invited to the upcoming online Tabletopia playtest and have full access to the rule book draft and balancing documents throughout the process. It’s what we love about Kickstarter and we hope you’re in for the ride!
All shipping will be made from Sweden, therefore there is no risk for additional custom fees or taxes within the EU. Outside of the EU however, we can’t guarantee or be held responsible for any additional costs that may occur, such as custom fees and taxes. Should the project be very successful, we will certainly consider using world wide fulfillment centers, but as of now, please be sure to check out your country’s specific import policies to know what applies to you!
