HypieLab is excited to be back with our seventh Kickstarter project and we are sparing no effort to once again instil fun and kooky ideas to our serious dabble in playing cards. The Wukong Playing Cards is inspired by the Chinese novel Journey to the West. The style of the decks is going to be a continuation of the manga-styled characters as in our Geung Si & Vampire decks.

All the decks in this campaign are limited and will not be reprinted.

Journey to the West (西遊記) is a Chinese novel published in the 16th century during the Ming Dynasty, which is considered one of the four greatest classic novels of Chinese literature and perhaps the most popular literary work in East Asia.

The journey to the West has strong roots in Chinese mythology, Taoist and Buddhist philosophy. Throw in elements of myths, modern fiction and add a big spoonful of classic line-art characters will give you our latest offering.

Standard Bicycle Edition is going to be printed on Premium Stock with superior gold metallic ink. Manufactured by The United States Playing Card Company. Made in USA.  

Premium Edition is going to be printed on Black Core casino stock from Germany with embossed finish by our partner printing facility in China that also printed our Urban Legend deck & Vampire Torpor deck.

The cards of the Wukong Premium deck will be using Gold Cold foil printing on both card backs and card faces. Tuckcase will be using hot foil stamping on premium cloth paper.

The court cards of the premium edition will also be featuring same set of characters as the standard edition.  We are looking at doing some variations of the court cards between standard and premium edition along the way if the campaign is funded.

WuKong Go deck is going to be a domino-sized deck which is designed for travel use. The stripe-like dimensions was adapted to spread out the cards in confined spaces. 

The Go Edition is going to be printed on Black Core casino stock from Germany with embossed finish which is the same paper and finish as the premium edition. Tuckcase will be printed on a matte finish with gold hot foil stamping. 

The WuKong Go deck is a truly collectible and lightweight to carry on the go.

The Wukong coins will be 2” or roughly 50mm in diameters, a nice, comfortable size.

We have including what we think are the 4 best finishes has to offer for you to choose. The finishes are Antique Silver, Antique Gold, Antique Copper & Black Nickel, on coins die struck out of a base brass material.

You can add the Wukong coins to your rewards if you are interested.

The quality of the Wukong Coins will be the same premium quality as the Urban Legend Coins that we produced in our previous Urban Legend Playing Cards campaign.
