Help stack bodies in the vault for ‘Blood Bank’ and two likable losers walk with 10 million dollars.
Summary
Thanks for checking this campaign out! I can’t wait to tell you about my next film Blood Bank. But first, let me tell you a little about me:
I am a devoted Husband and a full-time Father of two amazing boys. In 1991 I started an entry-level job at Paramount Pictures, in Los Angeles, California, and spent 8 years learning the business of film from inside the studio. Most of the time, I was clinging onto my job and trying to turn failures into career growth. Luckily, I did a few things well and spent the next 15 years working in Film Finance. I’ve worked to finance all or part of over 20 films. Some you’ve heard of. Others, you probably haven’t (thankfully). The result of those experiences was learning how to get films made and made well.
At the urging of my wonderful wife, I turned my efforts to writing and directing about 8 years ago. A passion I have had since childhood. I have directed 4 feature films, including The Ballad Of Davy Crockett, available on Amazon Prime (Shameless promo).
Now, I can get to the part you are really interested in; The film! Blood Bank is an R rated Action/Comedy that is fast paced, violent and is sprinkled with dark, crude humor. Oh, yeah, and there is blood, lots of blood as bodies stack up in the vault, fueled by human greed, while two likable losers try to bumble their way into surviving and maybe hang onto 10 million dollars.
As a filmmaker, I know I am just an overpaid clown, whose job is to provide the hard-working folks an hour or two of entertainment when they put their feet up after a long day’s work. I think a film like Blood Bank can provide a few laughs and some excitement to distract us all from our day to day responsibilities. That is the ultimate goal!
As an independent filmmaker, I always have a distributor secured before I make a film. However, I do not have studios or large production companies backing me. Mostly because I like to own and control the direction of the film, free from script censorship or other obstacles that come with being tethered to large Hollywood companies. So when I make a film, whatever I have for financing is all I have. There is no going back and asking for more. Having the help of smart, engaged supporters from a campaign like this makes all the difference in allowing us to make the best film possible.
Whatever support we get from you amazing supporters on Blood Bank will be used in casting. I have some specific actors in mind I would like to cast, that would knock the two main roles out of the park! It would be great to be able to make a financial offer that really gets their attention. And this campaign will do that. Having a top notch cast will bring our little independent film to the next level. – Derek Estlin Purvis
What We Need & What You Get
- To cast the two main characters we want for Blood Bank will put this film over the top with our distributor and the market. That cost alone will be $500,000-$750,000 of our budget. Securing the talent is a big part of the cost of producing a film, but it also a big part of a film’s success. We are ready to run!
- We want you to get more out of this for your support than an entertaining film, we have 5 levels of support with perks outlined for each. Check out the perks section for what you can expect to receive for your support. There’s some pretty cool stuff there!
- Whether we reach our full IndieGoGo goal or not, these funds will get this film into production and get us much closer to the finish line! With our experience in film finance, having a film with a green light and in production makes the final funding an easier sell.
The Impact
This is one of the greatest times in the history of film-making. Never has the playing field been so even. Your support will help an independent filmmaker turn his ideas into a film, and place it alongside the films of big Hollywood studios on the same platforms.
Risks & Challenges
The process of making a film has many challenges. The main challenge is always time. When production begins, there is a limited amount of time to capture all the scenes needed. The clock is ticking and you get one shot at coming away with a film. With some skill, good leadership, and as always, a little luck, that film will be good.
Our biggest asset in the production of Blood Bank is the production team. From a highly sought-after Director Of Photography in James King, to the Art Director and into post-production. Our team has worked on hundreds of films you probably have enjoyed over the years.
