Stay warm & sleep comfortably in any position you like on your long haul, cold or wet adventures

Story

Conventional sleeping bags can be restricting, making it difficult to change sleeping positions and when the down gets wet, going gets tough.

Presenting the Blue Bolt solo quilt:

  • Designed and evolved over 8 years by hikers in the Himalayas, it is ultralight, compact and versatile.
  • Tried and tested by hikers worldwide, the innovative hybrid design lets you manage ventilation when things in your tent start to heat up.
  • Ideal for cold, wet and damp conditions like in the PNW, UK, Scandinavia or the Himalayas
  • Designed to let you spread out and let you sleep in any sleeping position, ideal for side sleepers
  • Available in 2 different temperature ratings (-4 C and -12 C)  3 size options (S,M,L).
  • Washable and easy-drying.
  • The Blue Bolt solo quilt is a sleeping system made from cutting edge Climashield® APEX insulation with an outer bivy shell and a vapor-barrier inner lining that prevent internal condensation, keeping the insulation dry.

Blue Bolt solo quilt is a hybrid sleeping bag designed to change the way you sleep after a strenuous day outdoors. The Hybrid design brings the comfort of a quilt together with the performance of a sleeping bag. The integrated hood gives you full coverage of a sleeping bag, which quilts typically don’t offer.

It’s been tried, tested and appreciated.

In 2019, our sleeping bag went on a 3000 km epic adventure with Peter Van Geit. He completed a 4-month alpine-style minimalist ultra hike across 120 passes in remote western Himalayas and had a very positive experience in using the Blue Bolt solo quilt.

He says, “It’s super light and comfortable even while sleeping at near zero temperatures. I did not carry a tent and was mostly sleeping in the open with just the quilt and basic sleeping mat. I only used a lightweight bivy in case of rains and cold winds in which the quilt again was providing comfort and warmth from 1000 to 5000 meters altitude.”

Our solo quilt has been used and loved by adventurers in Europe and North America:

Everything you need to know about the Blue Bolt Solo Quilt

Innovative Material and Quality Construction

Super light bivy outer shell: 10D ripstop outer shell that is durable, windproof and incredibly water-resistant. Fancy sleeping out the open under the clear skies or a tarp? You can, without worrying about feeling the wind chill or getting your bag wet.

The strong water-resistant outer layer means the insulation will remain protected and the droplets will float off if the bag is exposed to drizzle or if you spill some water on it.

The innovative Climashield®APEX insulation: Innovative synthetic insulation that’s cruelty-free. Climashield® APEX insulation offer superior insulating and quick-drying performance in wet conditions compared to goose or duck down. No clumping, no cold spots. No feathered friends harmed to keep you warm.

Vapor barrier liner (vbl): 10D non-breathable liner (vbl) with breathable draft stopper to prevent that dreaded clamminess feeling. Hike in the wet, humid and freezing cold conditions found in places like Alaska, the PNW, Scandinavia and the Himalayas – and be confident that you’ll get a good night sleep.

We take pride in making a beautifully hand-crafted, high-quality product. A few of the highlights of our detailed construction process are:

  • The pattern is cut with an electric hot knife to prevent frayed edges and allow precise and fast cutting of slippery fabrics.
  • Smallest size 9 needles are used to ensure that the needles holes are as tiny as possible.

  • Poly core industrial thread is used for strong, long-lasting and even seams.

  • All edges are concealed within, using rolled hemmed seams or inverted construction.

Ultra-light and compact

The compression sack makes the quilt helps pack the quilt compact, leaving you with space to carry other essentials.

The tech specs, in a nutshell

A draft stopper is sewn around. You can push the draft stopper down to keep out drafts for comfortable warmth, or you can easily ventilate when it gets too warm. The draft stopper and hood work together to wrap your body in warmth.

*A mattress is important for the power of this quilt. We recommend a mattress with an “R value of 3” for a -4 degree quilt and an “R value of 5” for a -12 degree quilt. * Since the sensible temperature has various factors and variables depending on the individual such as body shape, constitution, tent used, mat, physical condition, etc., please understand it as a reference value only.

Sleep in any position you want

Solo quilts can sleep on their backs, sideways or freestyle.

The solo quilt hood has an extra length that extends beyond the shoulders and neck, and the simple contour design makes it easy to wrap the quilt around your body or head. It keeps out drafts and allows you to comfortably cover your head no matter how you sleep.

Can be used as a blanket to wrap around when just sitting out at your campsite

Remove the central zipper and use it to wrap around, easily put it on or hang it on your lap, so it’s also useful even when you’re not yet going to sleeping but want a soft, warm layer to snuggle in before calling it a night.

Pad attachment system

Attach two elastic webbings (included) to the sleeping pad. This is useful when the tent is not used when the wind is strong. It helps keep your sleeping system together.

Rectangular foot box with zippers by your feet

Equipped with a zipper by the feet to provide ventilation for camping on warmer days.

Washable and easy-drying

Machine wash or hand wash using a neutral detergent. Dry Cleaning is not recommended. Hang dry in the sun!

Problems with conventional sleeping systems?

Ultralight gear doesn’t have to put a dent in your bank balance. Our goal is to produce premium gear in a widely accessible price range.

So, who are we and what we are offering?

We are hikers from the Himalayas, and because it’s not easy to find high quality, functional outdoor gear here, we set out to make our own.

Our project started when our founder, Huzefa, decided he wanted to stitch his own lightweight sleeping bag for his overnight, alpine-style hikes. He wanted to make something that is durable for wet and low-temperature nights but more importantly, something that lets him sleep like he sleeps at home, free, not feeling trapped like a mummy.

Since then, there has been no looking back. Our friends and the outdoor community around us loved the product. We started taking custom orders and are now scaling up production to reach outdoor communities overseas.

Back us and become a part of our tribe, we offer you:

  • High-quality craftsmanship in our product at an affordable price.
  • Lifetime Warranty, because we are confident in our material quality and product durability.
  • Access to special promos and perks on soon to launch bivy gear, extreme weather mitts and other cool products in the pipeline.

Cant back us right now but want to help? Help us spread the word by sharing this campaign in your social network or share it directly with someone you think might be interested in the Blue Bolt solo quilt. Once we meet our Indiegogo target, we can scale up production and launch more exciting outdoor gear currently being designed and tested.

Our Team:

Huzefa combines technical knowledge of materials and design, math background, mountaineering and trekking experience to produce functional outdoor equipment. He challenges any challenge.

The resident “hermit” of the team, Steph has done her fair share of outdoor adventures in her own way. She loves well-written stories and strives to make the Blue Bolt content in the same way.

Pavan loves working with startups and exploring the outdoors. As a former competitive cyclist, he optimized every gram for speed. Now he wants to do the same for the outdoor gear.

Apoorv is an entrepreneur and a backpacker who finds education on the road. He handles the marketing and outreach.

Our Crowdfunding Success in Japan

In December 2020, we started a crowdfunding campaign in partnership with Makuake, a Japanese crowdfunding platform where we successfully met our target of 500 quilts. The funds raised were efficiently put to use in production and we delivered the solo quilt as promised to 500 happy adventurers in Japan. We are super proud of the success of this project in Japan. So rest assured, we have done this before!
