Revisioning The Future

Curio, Craft & Conjure is a mother-daughter brick-and-mortar magickal shop in the heart of NoDa – the arts district of Charlotte, NC. It has been our labor of love for over six years. As co-owners, Gianna and I are present and hands-on daily in the second-floor space in the 97-year-old building we currently occupy. We invite people to discover their brand of Magick and enjoy sharing our practices with those who enter our doors. Dedicated to providing space for local vendors to share their crafts, we also provide the support, resources, tools, and curios for our clients’ spiritual growth and practice and have created a comfortable space for people to sit, chat, laugh, shed tears, meet like-minded souls, and share ideas about spirituality.

Recent economic challenges have slowed sales everywhere, and Curio, Craft & Conjure is no exception. We have watched our sister stores pivot or bale, and to be transparent, with continued rent increases, our current location will not be sustainable.

After careful consideration, we’ve decided to rethink our approach and find fresh and new ways to serve our community. 

OUR VISION

We see ourselves in a new ground floor location, transforming our store into a dedicated, inclusive community space with expanded hours, an expanded curated inventory, exclusive services, unique in-person and online workshops, healing sessions, social gatherings, and more – in a space where we can control our expenses.

What We Need (& What You Get!)

We need your support to make this dream a reality. The goal is to buy a building that can accommodate our vision – where Curio, Craft & Conjure will have a permanent home and our legacy can continue.

How you can help: As a female, POC, and LGBTQ-owned business, it’s not easy for us to make a dream like this come true. Here are a few ways you can help us: 

1. A financial contribution: Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to our $100,000 goal. These funds go directly towards the down payment and outfitting of the space. If we DO NOT reach our desired goal, we are so committed to this vision that we will make the adjustments (either in building location or building size) to make this dream come true.

The Impact

More of our clients need a safe space to be themselves. We imagine our new home will include an area that can be used as a workspace for remote workers, a sanctuary away from home to read a book which can double as a learning and social gathering space after 5:00 pm. We imagine our new space hosting more educational opportunities, supporting local “pop-ups,” hosting parties, and various events – beyond the standard “Psychic Fair.” We imagine hiring more practitioners and teaming up with local artists, musicians, vendors, and other small businesses – so we can all help and support each other.

In addition, having our entrance on the ground level will allow us to serve the older or physically impaired community who currently struggle to make it up the stairs (if they can use them) while providing us the opportunity to offer larger (heavier) crystals to enhance your living space that can be loaded right into the car.

Risks & Challenges

You may ask yourself: “What if you buy a building and fill it up with products and don’t have the retail sales to sustain the business?” 

The Answer: I have created numerous in-person and online classes for myself, the store, and platforms like DailyOM. If the retail sales don’t hit our monthly goals, our expanded online courses and workshops will compensate for it.
