Story

The Black Box is a brand new expansion for Catacombs 3E. It features a new double-sided playmat featuring the Athenoch Mortuary on one side and the Notholag Dungeon on the other.

It provides a full set of alternate monsters cards for the base Catacombs game plus every expansion published so far including: Cavern of Soloth, Ice Box, Keystones & Keeps, Resurrection Packs 1 & 2, and Wyverns of Wylemuir.

There is a new set of monsters for the Vermin family and the new Mushroom familiar for the heroes. The expansion provides room cards featuring these new Vermin monsters and the Burial Chamber special room card.

In terms of rules, this expansion introduces the snowball ranged shot, group rush shot,  move to rune “shot” and the transmogrify shot modifier.

The box artwork  is an homage to the cover of Catacombs First Edition, first released over ten years ago.

UK and European Union

There are significant regulatory changes in the UK and European Union that will affect all crowdfunding campaigns. These are BREXIT, Import Control System (ICS2) and the VAT De Minimis Removal.

BREXIT (January 2021): Will require Customs Declarations for EU-GB-EU shipments. Affects shipments from the European Union to Great Britain, and from Great Britain to the European Union

Import Control System (ICS2) (March 2021): The enhancement of the security screening program will require that certain shipment data elements be sent to the EU Customs authorities for review and approval prior to loading at the country of export. Affects shipments from everywhere in the world to (or transiting) the European Union, Norway or Switzerland

VAT De Minimis Removal (July 2021): The abolition of the 22 Euros VAT De Minimis for imports into the EU will result in formal Customs clearance for all inbound EU shipments and the levying of VAT. Affects shipments from everywhere in the world to the European Union

With these changes, Customs authorities are further enforcing the regulatory requirements related to the provision of complete and accurate customs data in order to optimize security and safety screening, as well as combat counterfeiting and piracy, prevent unfair competition and ensure full collection of duties and taxes.

UK

Prices expressed in pledge / reward levels for backers in the UK should be considered exclusive of VAT.

VAT on your selected reward level will be collected during the Elzra Pledge Manager. VAT will also be collected on the cost of shipping.

One of the main changes that will affect customers from 1st January 2021 is the change to the deemed place of supply of goods. As things stand now, goods are subject to VAT in the country in which they are located at the point of sale.

The government is proposing that from 1st January 2021, a Business to Consumer sale of goods to a UK consumer will be deemed to take place in the UK, even if the goods were located outside the UK at the point of sale.

European Union

For an overview of the current VAT system in the European Union, please see this article (europa.eu).

There are significant regulatory changes scheduled to come into effect on the 1st of July, 2021. One of the significant changes that affects foreign companies selling to customers in the EU is the 22 Euros VAT de minmis threshold on shipments will be abolished. As noted above, all shipments into the EU will require formal customs clearance.

The official memo from the European Union regarding these changes can be read online here:

Modernising VAT for e-commerce (europa.eu)

This video is an in-depth overview of the changes including an overview of the EU’s new One-Stop-Shop (OSS) platform:

With regards to this campaign, prices expressed in pledge / reward levels for backers in the European Union should be considered exclusive of VAT.

VAT on your selected reward level will be collected during the Elzra Pledge Manager. VAT will also be collected on the cost of shipping.

You will be charged shipping after the campaign ends based on the actual costs incurred to ship your package to you. We will collect these charges via the Elzra Pledge Manager after this campaign.

Volumetric Weight

The shipping box for the “Big Box” version of Catacombs & Castles 2E + stretch goals is expected to be 16x16x8″ / 40.64 x 40.64 x 20.32 cm (15 lbs / 6.8 kg volumetric weight).

The shipping box for the “retail” version of Catacombs & Castles 2E + stretch goals is expected to be 15x15x6″ / 38 x 38 x 15.2 cm (10 lbs / 4.5 kg volumetric weight).

The dimensions of the shipping box directly affects the price of shipping as carriers now charge the higher cost of either the package’s weight or volume (otherwise called volumetric weight). Here is a link to DHL’s volumetric weight calculator as an example.

Please watch this video that explains further the concept of volumetric weight:
