Chained Silence Speaks: A Documentary Series about the Survivors of Human Trafficking

I am filled with gratitude as I reflect on my journey thus far. My upbringing, supported by my grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles, instilled in me the passion and determination to pursue my dreams. Although my initial aspirations were in acting, I eventually found my love for filmmaking.

Attending Texas Southern University was pivotal in laying the foundation for my career as a documentary filmmaker. The awards and education I received during that time allowed me to chase my passion even further.

In 2018, while in Ghana for the Covered Treasures film project, I encountered Becky’s Foundation Orphanage. Witnessing firsthand the devastating impact of human trafficking opened my eyes to this serious issue. Through my mini-documentary, I was able to shed light on their remarkable story and raise awareness for this important cause, which led to my recognition as a recipient of the Villager Award from Afram Global in 2019.

Now, as the director and producer of “Chained Silence Speaks”, I am committed to sharing the stories of survivors who have endured unimaginable horrors. With a dedicated team by my side, we will make a difference and leave a legacy that brings awareness to these vital issues.

Instead of celebrating my 50th birthday with a party, I’m putting all my efforts into producing this film series. But we need your help to achieve our goal of raising $50,000 to cover production costs, travel expenses, crew and actors. Our journey will take us to Senya Beraku in Ghana, as well as Los Angeles, Houston, and other cities.

What We Need & What You Get

Flights cost around $2000 per person. Ideally, we would want to cover the cost of at least 3 to 5 people to travel to Ghana to cover this portion of the film.

Equipment rentals for the 2 weeks will be $9562.17.

Hotel, food, wages and transportation expenses will be incurred for 2 weeks.

We also look to employ a few locals in Ghana in order to give back into their economy.
