City of Mist is the award-winning cinematic tabletop RPG of ordinary people wielding legendary powers, that combines graphic novel and noir aesthetics with reality-bending superpowers steeped in myth and legend.

Local Legends is a new supplement for City of Mist RPG, taking a deep dive into the communities and subcultures of the City’s Districts, expanding them with more lore, new adversaries and allies, new player options, and adding two completely new districts to the City: the long-awaited Chinatown and The Campus! Each district will also include a new locally-focused One-Shot Case for your crew to investigate!

This campaign will fund the creation and printing of this new book as well as new playable characters, map & pinnable clues, custom dice, adversary cards, a soundtrack and more!

Here’s the lowdown: City of Mist is a tabletop RPG (TTRPG) set in a modern city where legends are real people. Heroes, tricksters, and monsters are reborn inside ordinary people, regular Janes and Joes, who gain supernatural powers connected to their legendary alter-egos. As living gateways to another reality, they are called Rifts.

The mystical veil of the Mist hides these miraculous powers from the other, sleepwalking residents of the City. It makes armor look like a flak vest and fire breathing like a cheap party trick or a gas leak explosion, so no one ever knows about the legendary. Modern-day legends exploit this to run secret lives and insidious organizations behind the veil of the Mist.

Local Legends will include eight expansion districts for City of Mist that will send your crew on a spree of urban adventures and gripping side quests, battling against the City’s street-level gods and monsters, while exploring its unique communities and subcultures.

Each City district details everything you need to introduce it into your game:

• A District Map 
• New Theme Kits for creating your own local heroes hailing from this district, gaining skills and contacts from living in the district, or equipping your existing characters with the district’s Relics and mythical powers 
• Special rules including New Themebooks that tailor abilities and gameplay for that district, such as the heist rules in Fortune Row, or the Tradition themebook in Chinatown
• Places of Interest, from the public to the mysterious, from the mundane to those touched by goddesses, urban legends, and famous literary characters
• Locals, from helpful neighborhood NPCs to myth-powered villains and monsters that plague the district streets, including legendary alter-egos and unique abilities, their motives, backstories, connections to the community, and story seeds
• Danger profiles for dangerous locations, individuals, and situations in the district
• A one-shot case (adventure) to get you started off in the District!

Previously published districts will be revised and expanded with additional content, as well as receive their own new case.

$40K (UNLOCKED!): Extra Theme Kits: Local Walks-Of-Life: This content upgrade will add a set of theme kits across all districts that will focus on routines, professions, and skill sets common in that district or across the City such as a bodega owner, divey bar performer, gambler, etc.

$50K (UNLOCKED!): Local Legends Dice (8): Every Vigilante Slipcase will come with eight dice in a new style: Luminous Yellow and Brick Maroon. City of Mist dice are doublesixes, d12s that function as d6. You roll two with every move you make!

$60K (UNLOCKED!): Extra Dangers: Street-Level Cronies: This content upgrade will add a range of low-level minions for your PCs to encounter when they venture into the local districts, from back-alley knife muggers through a sudden flux of  tourists to the tormented victims of hungry tiger spirits!

$70K (UNLOCKED!): A New Case “Forged and Framed” by Runesmith will be added to the Local Legends book! “Forged and Framed” is a backwards mystery where instead of pursuing a criminal, the Crew is pursued as criminals themselves. After Pandora’s Box is stolen from The Museum, the party has to race against overwhelming opposition to find the truth and prove their innocence!

$80K (UNLOCKED!): Extra Villain Power Sets – Local Mythic Powers: Each of the districts will get additional Power Sets for mythic powers related to its theme (marine legends in Sunken City, Meso-American pantheon in La Colonia, etc.), allowing you to INSTANTLY convert ANY City of Mist Danger into a Rift that fits the theme of that district!

$90K (UNLOCKED!): Extra Theme Kits: Local Relics: Every district will have specific Relic Theme Kits that players can grab as either extra themes or main themes, from the various luck charms of Fortune Row to the eldritch artifacts lost in the garbage of the Undertrash.

$100K (UNLOCKED!): A New Deck of Legends: The top 40 Dangers of Local Legends will be immortalized in a deck of cards which will be sent together with every Vigilante Slipcase. Access these dangers quickly and easily display the flashy art to your table without ever rummaging through the book!

$110K (UNLOCKED!): Extra Dangers: Stray Conjurations: Sometimes creatures of legend are transported whole cloth into the City streets as they pass through thin places or via other Rifts. This set of Dangers will add more wandering monsters thematic to each district for your crew to bump into.

$120K (UNLOCKED!): Local Legends Soundtrack: Following the well-loved soundtracks “City of Mist” and “City of Mist: All-Seeing Eye Investigations”, this new volume of moody, action, and mysterious tracks will help you set the right atmosphere at the table!

$130K (UNLOCKED!): Extra Villain Power Sets: Fear the Ordinary: Sure, Mythos powers can be scary, but why not teach your crew to truly fear the ordinary with these Power Sets for mundane abilities, which can be added to ANY Danger. Maybe your villain is also a disgruntled plumber who can flood a building in seconds, or a Kevin/Karen who can troll the PCs until they break and give up.

$140K (UNLOCKED!): District Mini-Map Handouts: The eight (8) district maps will be added as handouts to the Crime Board Map Vol #2, allowing you to pin them to the map and show them as enlarged sections of the City map. Rather than pinning the clues on the larger City map, your crew could pin them in specific places in the district, painting a picture of the current local investigation.

$150K (UNLOCKED!): Extra Theme Kits: Lairs, Bases, and Hideouts: This content upgrade will add theme kits to all districts describing the best bases in the City, which your crew can get as extra themes: from your own shop in the Rows of Independence, through a converted meat factory in La Colonia, to a rented villa in Fortune Row – get ready to own a sweet new pad in the City!

$160K (UNLOCKED!): Four Small-Time Villains in Local Legends! The Local Legends book will include not only districts and cases but also both of the previously published Small-Time Villains: Medusa (Stone-Cold Beauty) and Geppetto (Puppet Show), as well as two more – Robin Hood, and a 4th Small-Time Villain voted by the backers!

$170K (UNLOCKED!): Extra Dangers: Cute & Deadly Familiars: The streets of the City’s districts are full of urban wildlife or escaped zoo animals turned magical and dangerous by the power of a Mythos. We will add more Familiar Danger profiles across the board, so players — be careful what you pet!

$180K (LOCKED): Guide to the City: The Local Legends book will include a guide to the City in the voice of one of your favorite pregens or NPCs, to be voted on when this unlocks (who will it be — Flicker? Foxy? Chet Atkins?). Use it to introduce new players to everything the City and the Rift underworld has to offer!

$190K (LOCKED): Extra Theme Kits: District Mythoi: The ultimate addition to the Local Legends theme kits, these will help you create a true local hero for each district using its local Mythoi. From Chinese mythology in Chinatwon through cthonic gods of the underworld in the Undertrash, to African American legends in Independence — local heroes are now at your fingertips!

$200K (LOCKED): The 9th District! If we reach this goal, Local Legends will receive an additional new district with all that entails: another case, another pregen, another district handout map, more themekits and Dangers, and more. We can’t yet share which will be the 9th case — we first have to reach this goal!
