Film Synopsis 

“Dark Triad” is a gripping crime thriller that follows Esme and Shaw, a brother-and-sister duo who are seasoned hitmen. When they are assigned a dangerous mission to eliminate a snitch, they soon discover that their target is none other than their childhood friend, Pete. Pete has betrayed their criminal family and become an FBI informant, now placed under US Marshall protection in a remote location.

Esme, battling her addiction to drugs and alcohol, carries an even more perilous secret: an affair with Angelica, the daughter of their boss. If their forbidden relationship is exposed, Esme’s life could be forfeited, complicating the already treacherous mission at hand.

Shaw, a former soldier turned family man, dreams of leaving behind his violent past. This assignment presents an opportunity to secure his escape, ensuring the safety of his family. He’s willing to risk everything, even if it means jeopardizing his entire existence.

As Esme and Shaw embark on the arduous journey, their time together in the confined space of a car becomes a pressure cooker for their hidden truths. Mile by mile, their tightly guarded secrets unravel, intensifying the already high tensions between them. I served as Production Manager for SYFY’s Mind Blown (2016), It’s a Party (2018), award winning film Unorganized Crime (2018) and Vigilante Diaries (2016) now streaming on HBO. I was a producer on projects such as Jade (2017) and Vlogworthy (2017). These jobs allowed me to see what indie filmmaking is truly about. What pit falls to look out for and what to focus on the most. I’ve recently had the pleasure of seeing our world through a new lens, that of promos and commercials working with the production company Nucontext Creative.

Get to know me

Robert Byrd

I was raised in a small town in WV, I fell in love with film. After high school I moved to Los Angeles where I studied visual FX and filmmaking.  After years stuck working in blockbuster video, I become a personal assistant to an actor earning writers credits on several scripts for said actor, including the now produced Your Move (2018). I’ve worked with him on such films as Universal Studio’s Death Race: Inferno (2013) and ABC’s TV show Red Widow.

This access allowed me to learn the actors’ process and how best to communicate with them on set. I then moved into production, learning the ins and outs of filmmaking. Understanding how to build a film from the ground up. Dreams are what keep us waking up everyday. They motivate us to get out of bed and tackle each day and opportunity head on. With your help, this dream I’ve had for as long as I can remember can come true.

What is a mood board? Created in pre-production, a mood board visually displays the look and feel of the film through color palettes, pictures, and video. It provides a quick sense of the style and tone of the film.  We created it in video format so all you have to do is click the link sit back and enjoy.

What We Need

To make this film, or any film, a reality, it takes money. 

• $100,000 seems like a lot but it truly isn’t especially, when you’re trying to make a full length feature. You ask what your donation gets me?
  • A small but very professional crew. An extremely talented group of people who are willing to lend their time and skills to make this happen.
  • Feeds this crew for the duration of the shoot
  • Location cost and filming permits.
    • Having permission to use a location so we don’t get arrested. Film permits give us the freedom to use our surroundings to the fullest.

The Impact

Without you this project just doesn’t happen. I’m a first time filmmaker without existing IP. This is original work that I think we all have been looking for.  Hey I like Marvel and Fast and Furious like the next person but sometimes sitting down and watching a good twist on a simple story is what is needed

Risks & Challenges

One of biggest challenge besides money is always time. 

• Time is the enemy of creativity on set. You have to be willing to make creative adjustments and sacrifices that can best serve the story. Sometimes those pivots create gold that you never would have thought of.
  • Scheduling, When you’re doing something at this level, planning around talent and crew availabilities can sometimes be a puzzle wrapped up in an enigma. This is when you have to surround yourself with a core group of people who have your back at all times.
• Figuring out how to maximize quality with what limited resources we have.  At the end of the day we want to have a film that the entire cast and crew will be proud of. Don’t forget you’re a member of this crew as well with your contribution and our audience. If the audience doesn’t like it then what are we doing this for.
• One of the most important aspect of filmmaking I believe is to be nimble on your feet. Always thinking outside the box. Like I say “There’s never a problem, there’s always a solution”. I know a bit cheesy but it works for me.
