Background

• For decades, many schools, in spite of having all the data, their own school photographers and their pictures, relied heavily on outside vendors like professional photographic studios/companies to produce their school picture products.
• As a result, most of the schools lost their ownership/copyrights to the soft copies of their own school picture products,
  because schools were not the authors/creators of the school picture products. Vendors were and are.
• According to the copyright laws in many countries. “Creators own the copyrights to their creations”.

High Cost

• This led to the vendors dictating high prices even for the hard copies of school picture products. Even a 2nd copy of the same picture costs the same.
• Soft copies are out of reach for many schools as they were multiple times costlier than the already high priced hard copies.
• Students/Parents were asked to pay the high cost if they wish to own the hard copies or the soft copies!
• End result: many students don’t even own their school picture products.

• With the advance of software technologies for quite sometime, there should have been easily such a tool in existence.
• Probably due to the economies of School Pictures Industry?
• Remember, in USA alone, School Picture industry is a massive 1-2 Billion Dollar industry a year!
