Story

Short Summary

My name is Jordan, I started creating the DNA Duo back in March of 2024 because I discovered a specific application called Drastic for Android which allowed you to play dual screen games on a second display. I purchased a few different screens both from AliExpress and Amazon, but they required special adapters to connect to the device you wanted to play them on. So I pushed the idea aside at the time. A few months later I was with my friend and he said “I hate dual screen emulation because of the lack of a second screen” so I put my brain back to work. This is when I started researching companies that developed screens and custom pcb boards and could provide the DNA Duo with the specifications I required. After contacting multiple sources I finally found a company that could help me fulfill my vision.
This is the very first thing I have ever invented. It has a custom designed hinge that magnetizes to the adapters for the device of your choice. The DNA Duo can be taken anywhere or stay attached to your device thanks to the custom foldability of the strong hinge. Whether you’re a gamer that wants to use it for gaming, or maybe you want a smaller display to keep and eye on your chat while live streaming gameplay. Whether you want to watch a YouTube video about how to play your game, or how to do something in a game you can have a second display attached to the device you love. Or maybe you just want a small display attached to the side of your monitor for watching the stocks while you work, the DNA Duo really has so many options to choose from.
This project was designed, developed, and thought of by solely me. However there have been many influential people in my life that have kept me going with building it because of the look of amazement on my kids faces with each new iteration of the DNA Duo. My Wife also has been helpful in so many ways she too thinks this device is super amazing. I really enjoyed watching each family member I’ve shared it with enjoy it as well. This is truly something I’ve been passionate about and just want to see others enjoy using on or with their device of choice around the world.

What We Need & What You Get

The screen, board, controller board are the most expensive part of this project. Right now to get this started the company won’t let me order less than 500 orders which would cost me near $50,000 Canadian not including shipping costs overseas. I have priced out the cost of all of the parts, cables, connectors, and shell as well and if I were to sell 500 orders today I would need nearly another $35,000 to develop the entire project plus the $50,000 for the screens alone. That’s if we only sell 500 of course, if I were to get more funding that would open up even more opportunities.
Since this project is technically already developed to the point of where it needs to be with approx. 12 different designs of the screen, and adapters, what you will receive are working devices based on what you choose. I have designed and 3D printed clamps for the Asus Rog Ally, Steam Deck, Odin 2, Monitors, and Desktop for the DNA Duo to attach to and plan for more designs in the future. For now these are the main devices I will be selling with future iterations of attachments for devices like the Legion Go or the future Steam Deck if the design changes and many more!
If I don’t reach my goal, I will do everything in my power to still develop this because I know how to make money when needed. I have already sacrificed a lot whether it’s selling my own devices, or finding other ways to make money, I up to this point have found ways to purchase products to design and develop what the DNA Duo is today.

The Impact

The DNA Duo is not only a mini display for what I’ve already mentioned above. Some have already said “oh you can use it for this, or that” which is really cool to hear ideas before it even released. I will and have been working hard on this and it really is something I know many will find beneficial when I get the finalized design (which is just the material by the way) produced in larger quantities.

Risks & Challenges

The biggest challenge is time, I have to deal with overseas wholesale companies that are 12 hours ahead so I have been getting up in the middle of the nights to converse back and forth to get things handled. If and when this gets funded, I won’t sleep if I don’t have to or flip my days to nights until these are all in my hands and ready to ship to you!
The biggest risk for you is that this is my first InidieGoGo campaign so I am still learning as I go. I expect there to be hiccups in my planning, but will overcome any obstacles by being focused and fully transparent with you.
