Hi there, my name is Colan Badham,

As you’ll have seen in the opening video, I’m no Johnny Depp, but I am an industrial expert with 25 years’ experience in manufacturing and international production line implementations for large multi-nationals producing high quality, complex products.

Since embarking on my journey with HUFe over 3 years ago we’ve grown inseparable, HUFe has become my divinity to bring hope and happiness to users and albeit on a small scale, our precious planet.

3 years ago, I discovered that chlorine was having a negative impact on my 3-year-olds skin. I purchased an online bath filter and discovered it didn’t satisfy his needs, so I set about using my industrial knowledge to create a more beneficial, yet sustainable product utilising coconut shell carbon as the main filter media. Prototype 1 – aka the ‘Bath Ball’ was an improvement for chlorine removal over my retailed purchase but, it was far away from one that would retail, you won’t disagree when viewing the below drawing and YouTube link.

HUFe evolved further through buying and testing many other Point Of Use filtration products and furthermore by reading the many negative customer reviews to gain better understanding of the problems experienced. Customer pain was logged and used to help steer development.

And so, after several thousand hours and 3 further prototypes. Development led to a more universal home filter now including drinking water, showers, challenging many other pollutants other than just chlorine and of course it became an eco-warrior too.

Yes, HUFe may seem a little bulky but, that’s fundamental to achieve the flow rate and filtration where you need a larger surface area and deeper bed depth.

The filter comes with 3 filter media zones, sealed using removable stainless steel mesh separators. As there is no plastic landfill cartridge, each zone will be hand filled from convenient recyclable refill sachets ordered through our spare parts page.

Users will be able to re-order the GAC and also have a selection of zeolite ceramic balls to choose from depending on their requirements.

A deeper dive into zones 1-3

As standard, HUFe will always be lovingly prepared with the following medias installed:

Zone 1 (inlet) – Water softening zeolites – Limescale removal. Use in Zone 1 where possible to reduce limescale build up on internal ultra-fine stainless mesh separators

Zone 2 (middle) – Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) used for removal of many substances including chlorine, chloride, and chloramines, PFAS (PFOS, PFOA aka plastic forever chemicals) residual pharma drugs, pesticides, herbicides, phosphates, heavy metals, sediment, lithium, arsenic, unpleasant odours and water discolouration.

Zone 3 (outlet) – pH balancing zeolites (Targeting a neutral pH of 7-7.5)

This set up has been carefully chosen for those with sensitive skin and was the original driving force behind developing such an incredibly well engineered filter.

There will of course be risks and challenges ahead

Although a wealth of domestic and international product line transfers within the manufacture of high-quality goods for multi-national groups. And the fact that all suppliers have been nominated, prototypes made and tested, there is always the risk that the best laid plans deviate somewhat.

But through vast experience, under a close watchful eye and my local supervision of pre-production parts sign off and actual first batch production runs, I am confident backed by proven skills, to lovingly ship HUFe to the very highest quality standards by year end 2022.

Shipping

Although HUFe will be shipping internationally, due to the current volatility of shipping costs, shipping payments will be collected after the campaign ends and close to your shipping date. And as international custom fees, import duties and local delivery fees all differ across regions, they are not included in any of the perks. This means it is up to our international backers to pay these costs on delivery. 

We will do the utmost to provide the best international shipping experience possible, but much of the process is out of our control and is in the control of the individual countries’ officials and mailing systems.

This will allow you the most accurate and up-to-date prices.
