Moon Valley Choir presents a ritual theater performance transmitting sacred feminine knowledge.
Dear Patrons,
The Moon Valley Choir is a collective of women local to Ojai who write original music and sing in honor of feminine wisdom and love of the great mystery. We invite you to support us as we create a ritual theater performance to benefit the Nigounie Mabanji women of Gabon. For thousands of years, these women have upheld sacred rites of passage through music and dance, carrying a wisdom gained through the lived experience of mothering. This summer, our choir director was initiated into the Mabanji tradition and witnessed the need to build temples, craft instruments, and support the women who carry these practices forward.
Inspired by their resilience, the Moon Valley Choir has created a powerful musical rite of passage, featuring original music, choreographed by the prolific Fatima Robinson and brought to life with the artistry and vision of Ojai’s extraordinary community of women creators. This project isn’t just a performance; it’s a transmission of the unique power of feminine knowledge.
We’ll premiere this work on November 16th at the Topa Institute in Ojai, with all proceeds supporting the Nigounie Mabanji women’s efforts to sustain their traditions. Our vision is to share this production with many communities, as we believe that the rituals of music and dance, shared in the name of the mother, are the celebratory healing we so deeply need today.
To make this vision a reality, we’ve launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for the production, and we invite you to be part of this creative journey.
Thank you!
