I am raising funds as the writer and creator of Failure to Adapt to have it turned into a film.

Story

Short Summary

Army veteran Michael Cooper navigates the ins and outs of reintegration into civilian society after being in military service and surviving combat operations. This film deals with touchy subjects such as:

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Anxiety
  • Disassociative Identity Disorder
  • Depression
  • and more…

It is designed to tell a story – from a veteran to a world of veterans – but it is also multifaceted to help everyone understand the struggles that veterans, their families and everyone involved go through on a daily basis. It utilizes humor, dramatic sequences and suspense to keep the viewer on the edges of their seats. There is a place for everyone in this film and each viewer will feel at home in it. Thank you for the opportunity in allowing me to tell my story!

What We Need & What You Get

This is the nitty gritty:

  • We are attempting to raise $52,250. This accounts for a budget of $50k and a the 5% in fees that Indiegogo charges as a platform.
  • These funds will be used for development, marketing, production, materials, locations, actor’s fees and transportation.
  • I will be applying for a SAG-AFTRA ULBA (Ultra Low Budget Agreement) and will be adhering to the Union rules in production, paying the talent the guaranteed daily rate of $211 minimum.
  • I will be giving preferential selections to individuals with a military background or veteran status, as well as including said individuals in the background of the film.
  • Contributions of significant value will be attached to incentivizations that will meet or exceed the contribution value.

The Impact

This film is not only designed to tell a story, but to give everyone something to talk about when it is over. It is designed to start a conversation, create a movement and to CREATE and FASCILITATE tolerance. We cannot assess an individual at face value, and this film goes to help deliver that message.

I feel that I have the capacity, both as the writer and the film’s lead to tell this story. I am a disabled combat veteran, a father and a husband and my own family walked through the fires of a military life together. My daughter was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and I deployed to Afghanistan when she was just 14 days old.

Other Ways You Can Help

Some people just can’t contribute, AND THAT’S OK!

I STILL need your help! Here’s how you can help me tell my story:

  • SHARE, SHARE, SHARE! If you have a social media platform, share this! It’s not begging, it’s not pandering, it’s not loitering, it’s frickin ART. Creative works take money and this is how that money is raised.
  • Tell your friends! If you believe in the idea, SHARE IT. If you hate the idea, tell everyone how much it SUCKS and where they can go to read about it!
  • A film is thousands of moving pieces. If you have a resource that you think would be of value, do not hesitate to share it with me at failuretoadaptfilm@gmail.com. Thanks!
