Advance Filipina Excellence!
What is Filipina on the Rise?
A global community about furthering Filipinas in Excellence! We produce multi-media content, meetups, podcasts and educational resources to celebrate Filipina culture and empower Filipino women around the world! Our Mission & Vision: To Advance Filipina Excellence and to see a world where all Filipino Women are powerfully represented
What are we trying to do?
Why we’re raising money
As a small, yet fiercely determined two-woman team, we’re seeking funding for the sustainability and expansion of our platform, and building a team. We’re running a vibrant community over 50,000 strong, hosting sold-out events nationwide, podcasts and panels, and need your help to reach new heights!
OUR GOAL for 2024 = $50,000
The Problem
- Many Filipino women feel disconnected with their cultural roots and are lacking a community that can relate to their experiences
- Filipino women are the 2nd largest female Asian American group, yet are significantly underrepresented across industries, and most Filipino women are lacking role models
- A quick search will show that what dominates our representation is objectifying and diminutive
However, since starting this I’ve been blown away with the incredible skills of Filipinas commanding a boardroom meeting, starting ingenious, thriving businesses during the pandemic, unmatchable creativity & collaborations at our events…. THIS is what I am relentlessly working to amplify.
Solution: How Filipina on the Rise is changing the narrative
Through podcasts, events, educational content, networking and more, we provide a powerful platform & home for women around the world. Filipina on the Rise has encouraged women to go after the promotion, not play small in their careers, reclaim beauty standards, take ownership of their suppressed history, say *F imposter syndrome and to HELL with perfectionism!* and more… and we are just getting started!
Our Story
I’m Krystl Fabella, the proud founder of Filipina on the Rise! As a Filipino American who arrived in this country at the young age of 7, my deepest desire was to see a woman in power who resembled me, someone whose story resonated with mine. For years, I struggled to find such representation. One day, in the midst of an identity crisis during a long Uber ride home from my tech job (more details in the video) I felt a surge of determination to reclaim my origins and pride as a Filipino woman.
Fast forward 3 years, and I’m still astounded by the incredible journey that Filipina on the Rise has embarked upon. Starting as a humble podcast recorded in a closet, it has blossomed into a vibrant community of over 50,000 strong. We’ve hosted sold-out events nationwide and reached around the globe. We’ve given a powerful voice to over 1,200 small businesses, artists, authors, speakers, and more.
What I once thought was my own story is, in fact, the story of countless women worldwide who hunger for the same reclamation and community.
Now, I’m dedicating my life to this mission because it’s more than a passion—it’s a necessity.
