Flaüs was designed for manufacturing (DFM) from the very beginning. We have sourced manufacturing partners, completed six functional prototype iterations with robust user testing between each step, and have a team that has built and delivered/launched multiple physical products.
Flaüs, established in 2019, was inspired by a painful and expensive trip to the dentist. Samantha Coxe, co-founder and CEO of Flaüs, was a guilt flosser – flossing her teeth before a dentist appointment so that, when asked if she flosses, the answer would be “yes.” This led to a $2,000 dental bill, a lecture on the importance of flossing and a disappointed dental hygienist.
While Sam was a responsible twice-a-day brusher using her electric toothbrush, she dreaded flossing. It was the most tedious, painful and difficult step in her daily oral care routine.
When she expressed her frustrations to co-founder and partner, Taylor Jolin, he emphatically agreed. That’s when they thought – there must be a better way. Flaüs was engineered to solve the pain points of flossing so that everyone can have a happy and healthy smile.

Samantha Coxe – is the CEO/Co-founder of Flaüs. Sam was a corporate associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where she advised strategic and financial buyers and sellers in connection with domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions and the formation of joint ventures and strategic partnerships. She attended the University of Southern California, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and received her J.D. from New York University School of Law. Sam has had a lifetime passion for entrepreneurship and has always had a great interest in bringing smiles to those in need, attending two medical missions and teaching oral hygiene to dozens of children with Operation Smile. Sam is a big fan of The Office, enjoys golfing and going for beach runs and has a major sweet tooth. Sam is from San Clemente, California and currently lives in Manhattan Beach, California.
Taylor Jolin – is the Co-Founder of Flaüs. Taylor previously worked in financial markets at Goldman Sachs in both Chicago and Los Angeles. He met his partner and Co-Founder, Samantha (a USC Spirit Leader at the time), while playing football as a walk-on at the University of Southern California. Taylor majored in Business Administration at USC and received his Master of Science in Finance from Georgetown University. While working at Goldman Sachs, Taylor helped many successful entrepreneurs manage their financial assets (which in many cases was created from the sale of successful companies). Working with these entrepreneurs provided Taylor with a strong inspiration to start a company of his own one day where he could use his knowledge of business to make a positive impact. During his free time, Taylor absolutely loves to play guitar. His childhood hero is Eddie Van Halen. While attending high school in San Diego, he won the Battle of the Bands as the lead guitarist of his dream-come-true Van Halen cover band, “Van Jolin.” Taylor was born and raised in Encinitas, California and currently lives in Manhattan Beach, California.
Dr. Vivian Roknian is the lead dental advisor for Flaüs and has over 10 years of experience as a general dentist and oral surgeon. She currently serves as faculty at the Misch Implant Institute and previously served as faculty at USC’s School of Dentistry. Dr. Roknian specializes in implant dentistry, endodontics, periodontal surgery, and tissue grafting. Dr. Roknian currently practices at her private dental office in Beverly Hills as well as throughout Los Angeles county. In addition to practicing dentistry and providing industry lectures across the United States, Dr. Roknian has a background in building startups and scaling businesses in the healthcare, academia, and hospitality sectors. Dr. Roknian also founded the entrepreneurial blog and podcast series Dr. Vivian, which was created to nurture, inspire, and empower female leaders and entrepreneurs. From the moment Sam and Taylor first approached Dr. Roknian with idea for Flaüs, Dr. Vivian has been intimately involved with the design process while providing practitioner-based guidance throughout development. Aside from entrepreneurial endeavors and dentistry, Dr. Vivian also enjoys cooking, ballet, and throwing dinner parties. Dr. Roknian grew up and currently lives in Santa Monica, California.
Andrew Namminga is the lead engineer and industrial designer of Flaüs. In 2010, Andrew started ANDesign Lab – a design, engineering, and manufacturing company based in Newport Beach, CA with a manufacturing office in Shenzhen, China – during his senior year at Cal State University Long Beach. Andrew holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design. After graduating in 2011, he opened the first ANDesign Lab office with three employees in a small warehouse in Santa Ana, California. Thanks to the early success of multiple ANDesign Lab products as well as a growing knowledge in manufacturing and logistics accumulated from countless trips to China to oversee manufacturing projects, Andrew expanded ANDesign Lab’s operations to Shenzhen, China with a dedicated team of engineers, manufacturing specialists, project managers, and quality control staff. Today, ANDesign Lab is known in the tech and hardware industry as the premier one-stop shop for industrial design, engineering, and manufacturing. Andrew enjoys craft beer and building anything from canoes to vintage automobiles in his spare time. Andrew grew up in Rancho Cucamonga, California & currently resides in Newport Beach, California.
