Short Summary of Our Cocktail Haven in Napa Valley

Why The Fink?

Well, it may sound cliché, but I was born to do this!

I am geared for cocktails and hospitality, having founded and lead Napa Valley’s cocktail appreciation guild, Friends Of Ardent Mixology (FOAM) for the past 17 years and having been bestowed the title “Mr. Hospitality Napa Valley” by the Napa Valley Vintners. 

Give me three lemons and I will juggle them.

Give me a deck of cards and I will show you a magic trick.

Give me a ukulele, and I will strum you a song.

BUT… put me behind a bar and I will create an experience you will remember for a lifetime!  Superb Cocktails and an unforgettable experience that guests will want to repeat again and again. Light bites inspired by world travel add to the experience along with occasional live entertainment. I envision this as the hotel bar for the historic Napa River Inn.

There are things I am good at, and then there are things I enjoy. I found this the first time I hosted a week long wine cruise… could I entertain guests every evening for seven nights in a row? Oddly enough, I found myself the last to leave, and not wanting the evening to end, all while we traveled the world over. I loved being the host, sharing stories, and creating the space where guests from near and far could connect over a fine beverage. While sailing the high seas every night would not be conducive to family life, I could create this experience in the Napa Valley, my hometown, where visitors flock from all over the world to experience hospitality. The Fink will combine my love of people and phenomenal cocktails, the latter of which will be crafted by the revered Bay Area Bar Star Andrew Salazar. Andrew has designed a menu with a wide array of cocktails in keeping with the theme of world traveler.

The Impact

Your contribution will be put to work immediately by:

• Preserving and restoring the historic Hatt Building/Napa Mill space, including a century old bar from Trader Vic’s, and what legendary jazz musician Mike Greensill has called “his favorite piano that he has ever played on”
• Getting us one step closer to opening, and creating a welcoming and immersive community gathering space for our Napa Valley locals and visitors alike.

Risks & Challenges

Opening a bar is hard. In recent years, we have learned how to pivot and be creative to not only survive, but thrive. With that in mind, we have thought through risk of closure due to pandemics, fires, and other natural disasters, and how we can continue to operate. We have a track record of operating a winery through pandemics, fires, floods, and earthquakes. In good times, people want to get together and celebrate. In challenging times, people want to gather with their community. The Fink will be the warm meeting place for all times.
