Beautiful kimono that can be worn in 1 minute, bringing kimono culture to the next generation!!

Story

“We must leave our Japanese kimono culture to the next generation.”

“We want to spread the kimono as a fashion item to the world.”

That is why we have created this innovative kimono, to make kimonos more easily accessible to everyone.

          -Features-

  • In one minute, anyone can put on a kimono.
  • Made of easy-care material (Light / Washable / Wrinkle resistant).
  • Dress in your own way (Available in 6 nice colors).
  • Made in JAPAN.

Why do we start this project?

People from around the world are highly interested in Japanese culture and lifestyle. You have probably heard of ukiyo-e, kabuki, bonsai, sushi, ramen, manga, and so on. In particular, Japanese kimonos are well loved by many people around the world.

However, at present, Japan’s kimono culture is in a state of decline. Nearly 80% of the younger generation in Japan has never worn a kimono, and an increasing number of kimono shops are going out of business. Moreover, due to the pandemic, the kimono culture is in more danger than ever before.

“We must leave our Japanese kimono culture to the next generation.”

“We want to spread the kimono as a fashion item to the world.”

In order to realize both of these ideas, “Global Kimono” is a cutting-edge kimono that has been remade to fit the modern age keeping the beauty of the kimono while carefully preserving its quality and good points.

By removing unnecessary stereotypes, we have made it possible for anyone who wants to wear a kimono, regardless of nationality, age or gender, to wear it as an everyday fashion item.

Available in 6 colors.

Make Kimono Simple and Easy to Wear

We have redesigned the kimono to make it easier and more accessible for many people to wear it.

・Easy to wear by one person without any support.

・It can be worn by itself, without any accessories, unlike regular kimonos.

The Global Kimono is ultimately a simple kimono.

The kimono has a history of more than 10,000 years, and has been worn as part of daily clothing while changing with the lifestyles of the times.

However, Kimonos are now rarely worn in daily life, and the custom of wearing them generally remains only for limited occasions, such as weddings, graduation ceremonies, and summer festivals.

The process of putting on a traditional kimono is complicated, and this is the main reason that keeps people away from kimonos. The process of putting on a kimono is called ” kitsuke,” and since it requires specialized knowledge and many accessories, it is generally done with the support of a professional staff member called a kitsuke-shi. It cannot be done alone and takes time.

A typical kimono has many accessories and is difficult to wear.

How to Wear Global Kimono

Global Kimono can be easily worn by anyone in 3 steps.

There are rules for kimono fitting, but to ensure that anyone can wear a kimono without making a mistake, we have made a hole in only one calculated position for an obi (band) to be threaded through.

Step 1. Pass the right side obi (band) through the hole in the left side of the waist.

Step 2. Turn the right obi (band) around the body and interlock the ends.

Step 3. Turn the left side obi in the same way around the body and interlock it at the last position.

These three steps enable you to fit and wear a kimono beautifully in one minute without falling down.

This new kimono design is currently pending design patent registration.

After undressing, it can be rolled up and carried in a bag.

Outfit Image

You may have the general impression that there are many rules when it comes to kimonos, but today there are no strict rules on how to wear kimonos. You can freely match the kimono with various clothes and accessories, or wear HAORI alone like a jacket.

We hope you will make use of the kimono in various situations, such as at home, on vacation, on a business trip, at a party, or on a date with your partner. With Global Kimono, everyone can enjoy going out in kimono more easily.

Quality

Most kimonos today are made in factories outside Japan. However, all of our kimonos are carefully sewn by hand, piece by piece, in Aomori, Japan, to ensure quality control.

In addition, we have carefully selected lightweight and wrinkle-resistant materials in the hope that our kimonos can be worn in every situation. All of them are also machine washable.

Kimonos are made by a process that cuts the fabric in straight lines only, not in curved lines, thereby utilizing the fabric without wasting it. The straight and beautiful silhouette created by this traditional method gives the kimono its unique dignity. While eliminating the unnecessary, we have carefully preserved the good qualities of the kimono.

 Apology and Acknowledgement

Due to complicated social conditions, it is currently very difficult to obtain kimono fabric in Japan. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this and the very small number of each returned item that we are able to produce.

We are currently a team of only three primary members. We will work hard to make the GLOBAL KIMONO a mainstream part of future kimono culture as a daily fashion but our activities are only possible with your cooperation. With your cooperation, we will be able to share the fascinating kimonos with the world. We hope that you will join us in our challenge and we appreciate your support.

Thank you very much for reading to the end.
