Two years ago after unexpectedly meeting Fred and experiencing the somatic work he’s been doing for the past 50 years, I uttered the words “we should document this!” I didn’t mean it in a self serving way, I meant it as in we should get this down for humanity. It felt truly unique, and the experience didn’t seem to come from Fred himself — he seemed to be the tool, or conduit if you will, as well as myself as an active participant. 

I felt nurtured in a way I hadn’t experience before… and the journey to share this experience began. 

Initially, the intent was to create a companion video for a new book that Fred had in the works. As we began shooting, more interviews were added; and we shot nearly 20 hours of footage. As I went through the footage, I suggested that we had a foundation to do a full length documentary should we chose. Fred and his wife, Cheryl, agreed that they wanted to pursue doing a full length doc and here we are today pursuing bringing that to fruition. 

Most of the principal footage has been shot. Via your support we are seeking $70,000 to continue editing, launch a social media campaign, and seek distribution avenues.

The resulting liberation ushers the viewer into a new vision of human possibilities that hold a depth of playfulness, wisdom, and creativity. This process becomes the healing journey that fuels us into more Love and Light in our everyday life and opens us to express our true humanity.

The film follows the journey of Fred Mitouer—a Master Teacher and Metaphysician—at work with his clients, students, and colleagues—as he exposes transformative energetics into the healing field of personal and collective ancestral karmic wounds that, once healed and released, turn into blessings.

Our desire to live greater has become awakened and accelerated by media, looking deeper into wellness and the wellness industry at large for support when western medicine has sadly only gone so far for our wellbeing. It’s hard to ignore how much value the thriving wellness market is creating by providing rich content, tools, and services / products, with dreams to answer our inner call, “may this help me”.

Yoga, Pilates, Homeopathies, films like -“Stutz”, “Fantastic Fungi”, and many other wellness campaigns / brands gift us with great stories, movements, and products/service platforms in the name of a greater life. The boom in wellness is not only big business but has helped to deliver greater health and wellbeing able to navigate a life in better ways than what was known before.

There currently isn’t a clear voice broadcasted brightly and broadly in media that speaks to the profound psycho/somatic healing benefits like Grounding Light offers. ABOUT FRED MITOUER

Fred Mitouer is the creator of Somatic AgencyTM, a transformational bodywork system that teaches individuals how to heal from within.

Fred Mitouer, Ph.D., is internationally known for his groundbreaking somatic therapy. He created Pacific School of Massage in 1978 and Transformational Bodywork in 1989 and known today as Somatic Agency.

Fred continually invites the curious and the bold, those who are willing to answer the call to the internal adventure, to manifest a healthier and more activated body and spirit onto his massage table. Through shamanic depths and physiological expertise and training, Fred removes barriers and helps engage greater purpose in this present moment. He empowers and transforms the consciousness and physical states of countless individuals in diverse fields spanning the world.

Fred’s work has been presented in Paris, Hong Kong, Russia and throughout the United States. He and his wife Cheryl have certified more than a thousand massage practitioners over 30 years..

He is a proud father and grandpa and lives with his wife, Cheryl, and their dog Lightning, on California’s Mendocino Coast where he sculpts in metal and stone and rides his dragons.

ABOUT DIRECTOR L. SCOTT JONES

L. Scott Jones is a filmmaker, editor, and producer who has been a video production professional for over 20 years.

In recent years, Scott went through a series of profound personal challenges, processing the enormity of his life’s potential during a time of painful losses— the passing of his mother followed by the loss of his last remaining closest kin, his sister.

Unexpectedly, Scott found himself on the Mendocino coast, where via a mutual friend, he volunteered to help Fred with a community art project. In return, Fred offered somatic therapy sessions for Scott’s contributions. Scott knew nothing of Fred and his work, nor was he particularly seeking a new type of healing.

Scott describes his initial session with Fred as a peak life experience. While lying on the floor in Fred’s treatment room reeling in the wake of a profound transformative experience, Scott shifted into a new aliveness and uttered the words, “we should document this”. The story for Grounding Light began.

As a filmmaker, Scott’s ambition is to gift Grounding Light to the world stage, and to continue filming/giving voice to many other psycho and somatic healing modalities of the world that can benefit others, as Fred’s work has done for him.

As a child, I had a dream to find my calling and discover a gift to share with humanity that would contribute to a better world before I passed from this earth. This film, Grounding Light, is a part of that legacy. Somatic AgencyTM, the work that found me 50 years ago, has been fashioned and tempered by the many thousands of individuals I’ve touched.

While writing my next book, the pandemic took us into a challenging vortex that gave me the opportunity to work with the inspired talent of filmmaker, L. Scott Jones. Together we have crafted this film project that captures the trajectory of my mission to bring somatic healing to the greater world.

I have assembled a team of brilliant, creative, and heart centered folks supporting Somatic AgencyTM, crafting together a grand vision for Grounding Light to be much more than a powerful and engaging film but to be realized as a truly supportive movement and platform. Long after experiencing Grounding Light, the viewer will have a clear path to deeply investigate into the somatic healing arts with readily available resources, experiences, tools, and a supportive community helping them on their wellbeing journey.

Grounding Light Film is looking for Financial and Production Assistance to take it into the greater world as a teaching and inspiration to bring conscious touch into the lives of people who hunger for healing, freedom, personal sovereignty, and joyous well being.
