In the middle of an Arizona winter, I decided to go solo camping in the mountains armed with what I believed to be adequate gear. I packed a hammock and a sleeping bag rated for -20 degrees Fahrenheit and trekked six miles into the mountains. As dusk fell, I set up my hammock and prepared for a restful night of fresh air and hanging under the stars.

The biting cold proved more formidable than I anticipated. Even though the sleeping bag I’d chosen was suitable for -20 degrees Fahrenheit and the temperature had just dipped below freezing, it had lost its insulating efficiency. The goose-down stuffing of my sleeping bag, compressed along my backside, could no longer trap air where it met the hammock’s thin fabric. As a result, my night turned into a chilling, sleepless ordeal.

Daybreak found me huddled by a fire seeking to restore warmth and comfort. As I warmed my hands over the flame, an idea sparked within me—the HangPad™! Over the next few years, I channeled my focus, determination, and knowledge of outdoor gear into dreaming up and developing the world’s first inflatable, insulated hammock. This revolutionary piece of camping equipment was not just robust but also extremely comfortable. It incorporates innovative features such as an adjustable pillow and integrated tree straps, and it doubles as a sleeping pad when there are no trees in sight.

Thanks to this chilling experience, I learned a crucial lesson. When I venture into the great outdoors, a simple hammock will no longer suffice. I require something more—something better. I require the HangPad™!
