The World’s First Flosser Designed For True Compostability.

Story

Goodbye Petroleum Plastics,
Hello Quick-Composting Paper.

Happi Floss is on a mission to replace single-use plastics and we’re starting with flossers. Made with layers of post-consumer recycled paper, Happi Floss is designed to decompose quickly in the compost or soil, unlike our plastic counterparts that can take 400+ years to decompose, if ever.

Created by Doctor Staci, a functional and holistic pediatric dentist, Happi Floss is a woman-founded, owned, and operated company. Our flossers are locally made in a fair-wage shop near Portland, Oregon with renewable energy. Happi Floss is toxin-free and cruelty free, and our two sizes accommodate mouths of all shapes and sizes.

To date, Doctor Staci has self-funded Happi Floss through research and development, testing product with friends and family to come up with the final iteration that’s being shared with the world during our Indiegogo Campaign. With patents secured, R&D complete and 5,000 flossers produced, we are ready to go mainstream, but we need your backing.

What We Need

A successful Indiegogo will enable us to scale our machinery and offer Happi Floss to the World. The $50,000 raised through Indiegogo will enable us to build our first full-scale, direct to consumer production machinery. If we do not meet our $50,000 goal we will continue raising funds outside Indiegogo to close the gap. Your support will enable us to become competitive with environmentally destructive plastic flossers. With your help we can create a better future.

Risks & Challenges

With patents in hand, flossers through R&D and already tested by friends and family, our biggest challenge is the time it will take to create the one-of-a-kind machinery needed for mass production. As Covid continues to impact supply chains, we are exploring alternative machinery components to quickly bringing Happi Floss to the world.

Environmental Commitments

Reusability and recyclability

Happi Floss is the world’s first flosser designed for true compostability, and our Indiegogo packages come wrapped in seed-paper packing. In total, 99.7% of what consumers receive will be compostable and/or recyclable, and we’re working on that last 0.3%. For now, simply remove the floss and everything else can be composted. In the future, we will source or create a quality non-plastic floss filament.

Sustainable materials

Happi Floss is made with layers of post-consumer recycled paper and is completely compostable. Our flossers are toxin-free and are manufactured using renewable energy. We are currently sourcing environmentally-friendly, compostable floss that lives up to Doctor Staci’s standards.

Environmentally friendly factories

Happi Floss is locally made in a sustainability-focused, fair-wage shop near Portland, Oregon with renewable energy. Our manufacturing process is free of toxins.

Sustainable Distribution

Happi Floss is committed to infusing sustainability into every aspect of our company. While packing is still being created for our 30 and 90 packs, we plan to use post-consumer recycled paper and will avoid plastic at all costs.

A Happi Story

For Doctor Staci, seeing plastic flossers wash ashore hit too close to home.

The idea for Happi Floss came to Doctor Staci as she witnessed a shocking amount of trash washing ashore while walking a beach in Hawaii. It’s an all too common experience many of us share – escaping into nature only to discover it’s been overrun with plastic waste. For Doctor Staci, seeing plastic flossers wash ashore hit too close to home. As a pediatric dentist, she regularly heard from parents that although they loved the convenience of plastic floss picks for their children, they often would skip flossing altogether due to the guilt they felt using single-use plastic.

After years of testing materials and manufacturing techniques, Happi Floss was born. Intelligently designed to keep their shape in your mouth, yet compost quickly, Happi Floss is composed of layers of compressed, post-consumer recycled paper and biofilm, a plant-based, non petroleum material. When placed in the compost, our layered design allows moisture and microbes to permeate our flossers, quickly breaking them down and turning them back into usable organic matter.

With design complete and thousands of flossers created, the Happi Floss story is really just beginning. Launching Spring 2021, Happi Floss now turns to increasing manufacturing capabilities in order to rid the world of single-use plastic flossers. Consumers and investors are encouraged to support the Happi Floss Kickstarter or to reach out for early investment opportunities.
