Hello, I am Jacky Wong, the CEO and founder of HEDONE. When I look back at my childhood, by far my favorite memories are of me spending each summer holiday, alongside my father, in his watch factory. It was the foundation of my future career in horology and the catalyst for my fascination for creating unique timepieces. With my father’s encouragement, after leaving education I joined the watch industry and have been immersed in it for over 15 years.

During this time, I observed that the affordable watch sector became very stale, and you could say way too conventional. Many existing brands release very similar designs, and there’s far too much repetition of design content and features. End users often buy into a brand, or follow a designer label, and the actual aesthetics and function of the timepieces often becomes the secondary concern. The Logo on the watch, or the brands name in identifiable lettering can blind the purchaser to inferior quality products and mass produced movements. I want to correct that, and bring back affordable, beautiful watches that are truly a joy to own.

Watches should be works of art, both aesthetically and mechanically. The balance of these two factors and then the emotion they offer the wearer are the key factors that I truly want to bring to the market. I have therefore set a goal for myself and my team of horologists. We will offer an affordable, truly desirable, high quality, and inspirational timepiece to the market. It will instill in the wearer a sense of pride in wearing the product, and to balance this, it will reassure them of the mechanical accuracy, reliability and workmanship involved in its conception.

All HEDONE watches will be assembled, finished and quality assured by our own master watch makers. Every aspect of the production, from the initial concept and design stages right through to the final packaging and shipping to clients will be overseen by myself. I truly love my work, and I am very proud of the products we produce and the team I have assembled to create them.

COSMIC DUALITY – OUR INSPIRATION:

We have one philosophy that has inspired and governs everything we do at HEDONE. Yin and Yang are the basic factors of parity that govern natural law. It is the motive force of all life cycles that breed, develop, mature, decline and die. It Isn’t just a philosophy though, it inhabits everything from Mathematics to Science, the Arts and Medicine. Yin and Yang do not exist on their own, both parties co-exist, because of the existence of the other. Yin and Yang shows us how seemingly opposite or even contrary forces may actually be complementary to each other and interconnected, The Yin-Yang philosophy says that the universe is composed of forces of dark and light, sun and moon, male and female.

Its concept and teachings are at least 3,500 years old, and it has been recorded they were discussed in the ninth-century BC text known as the ‘I Ching’ (or ‘Book of Changes’) and to this day influences the philosophies of Taoism and Confucianism. The iconic Yin-Yang symbol is related to the ancient method used to track the movements of the sun, moon, and stars. Yin is usually characterized as a feminine inward energy. It’s still, dark, and negative. Yang is characterized as outward energy, masculine, hot, bright, and positive. Their co-existence and balance are what guide is in everything we do at HEDONE.

With Yin and Yang as our inspiration, we have created our PHILOSOPHE watch range, in initially just two designs, with both incorporating elements of Yin and Yang.

We created a two-layered movement design, with an upper escapement on the top of dial, and others mechanic parts are hidden in the right side and at the back of the movements. This allows the owner to view the beauty of movement both from top and bottom, and it’s fascinating, precision mechanism. The PHILOSPHE isn’t just a watch, it’s truly a work of art on many levels.

The motion of the Balance Wheel is the perfect representation of the interaction between Yin and Yang. For every tick of these timepieces, you can witness the Pallet Fork first enter, and then leave the wheel, and thus moving the hands forwards and perfectly representing the interconnection and interdependent between Yin, Yang and the passage of time.

When you consider the elements involved in creating these timepieces, and that each aspect of their manufacture is inspected for both quality and accuracy, we are sure you will embrace them with as much passion as we have. We provide a period of two years warranty from the date of delivery. Our warranty covers manufacturing defects on the watch itself existing at the time of delivery of the purchased HEDONE watch.

Normal wear and tear or acceptable aging (e.g. alteration of the colour and/or material or non-metallic straps and chains, such as leather, textile, rubber, etc.)
Any damage on any part of the watch resulting from abnormal or abusive use, misuse of crown, negligence and accidents resulting in scratches, dents, nicks, broken crystal, etc.
