Electronic foldable construction

Our big innovation for the chess world is an original, patent-pending construction, which makes iChessOne the first electronic and foldable chessboard in history! A unique wireless data transmission system allows information to be exchanged between the two halves of the chessboard. Thanks to this, you can fold your new e-board, carry it easily under your arm, or fit it in the luggage to take on a trip!

High-end set with hidden electronics

iChessOne looks and feels just like a traditional, luxurious wooden set. You can’t even tell it’s electronic until you start playing. When not in use, the LEDs are not visible, as they are subtly hidden inside, under the wood, along with all the electronics.

LED indication and full pieces recognition

It’s so easy and quick to get started! To use the power of your electronic chessboard, simply launch the iChessOne App (a built-in battery will be included in each iChessOne set, so no external power source is needed). If you want to play online, select a chess site and start your game. But how does it work exactly? The LEDs will turn on to indicate each of your opponent’s moves. And thanks to the full pieces recognition system, the board detects the exact location of each piece, so your moves will automatically appear on the chess server.

Play offline – it remembers all of your games!

If you use the iChessOne board for offline games (player vs player on one board), you can save the log and generate a Portable Game Notification (PGN) file for further analysis instead of noting the played moves on a piece of paper.

Train with AI

Master your chess skills by playing against the built-in chess engine. With eight difficulty levels to choose from, you will always find a reasonable challenge!

Beginners Mode

A special game mode for beginners to help them quickly gain chess skills. Using multicolored LEDs, iChessOne shows you available moves along with their evaluation: red (error), orange (mistake), blue (good), pink (best). Beginners Mode is available only while playing against AI.

Hints & Tips

Another feature to help you learn and improve! If you click on HINT in the application, the chessboard will highlight the square with the piece, which moves you should consider. If you need more help, click on MOVE, and the board will show you exactly where to move the piece. Hints & Tips are available only while playing with AI.

Control of chess rules

iChessOne ensures that the game is played correctly according to the rules of chess, including positioning and moves, order of moves, castling, and pawn promotion. It signals not only errors but also provides instructions on how to return to the correct setting.

Multicolor LED for advanced communication

Our multicolor LED lights not only look great but primarily they communicate more complex issues to you. iChessOne can indicate the quality of movements, such as blunders, mistakes, good and best moves. Additionally, they signal incorrect moves or the need to complete a casting.

Available moves indication

A helpful feature that can be selected in the app and used in any game mode. When you pick up a piece, LEDs indicate the available moves to choose from.

We carve our pieces in the classic Staunton style and make boards in the tournament size, adhering to the standards of the International Chess Federation. UPDATE: Free chessboard upgrade

Thanks to the feedback from our supporters, we have made some significant improvements to the board that will now be included in the original price:

• A built-in battery that lasts for several hours of play.
• The battery will be replaceable to ensure the longevity of the chessboard.
• A discrete on/off switch that makes it easy to turn the board on and off.
• Out-of-play illumination to remind you to turn off the board when not in use.
• The central power connector will be replaced with a standard USB-C connector. We will also include in the set a one-meter cable with a magnetic end (USB-C).

Development

Since the beginning, our goal has been to create a tournament-size wooden electronic chessboard that you can carry, just like classic ones. To do this, the chessboard had to be foldable. However, our biggest hurdle was how to do that and at the same time keep all of the e-board functionalities. Seeing the few prototypes below, you can see how we struggled with wireless data transmission between the two halves of the chessboard.

Months of searching, brainstorming, and creating prototypes finally led to the creation of the iChessOne set! It can be packed into your backpack, bag, or suitcase. You can travel with it wherever you want, and because it’s foldable, it’s easy to store at home or wherever you go.

We come to crowdfunding to launch our most ambitious project, as it is where we originated, built our community, and consider it our home. With this new project, we invest our time, passion, and resources to create a chessboard that we believe you will love as much as we do. Crowdfunding enables us to dream beyond limits and to see if you share those dreams. Manufacturing innovative products involves a risk, but your support validates and helps develop our ideas. It funds the manufacturing process, and transforming our products into a reality for our supporters.

We can’t understate the value of our community in developing our products too. You guys have superb ideas that we incorporate into our products whenever and wherever possible! This is why we have added a build-in battery and a standard USB-C connector as a free upgrade.

• Refund Policy

If you decide to support us, you can cancel or change your pledge at any time during the campaign.
Payments will be collected by Indiegogo after 10 days. If you change your mind after this period, you can request a partial refund, which will be 90% of your pledge amount, minus processing fees.
All refunds will be processed in EUROs and returned to your card via Stripe.

• Pledge Manager

To complete your order, you will need to use the Pledge Manager on Pledgebox, which is a separate platform from Indiegogo. Up to four weeks after your purchase, you will receive a confirmation from the Pledge Manager (PledgeBox) with detailed instructions on how to complete your pledge. At this point, you can specify whether or not you want the chessboard to include field notifications. You can also enter the shipping address and add various add-ons. This is the only way we can ship your pledge. 

• Duties and Taxes

Please note that your shipment may be subject to customs duties and import taxes. These fees are not included in the shipping price and are the responsibility of the customer. You can check them with your local customs office.

• About shipping

When you support an Indiegogo campaign, you do not pay for shipping at that time. Instead, you will pay for shipping when you enter your shipping address and finalize your pledge in the Pledge Manager.
Please make sure you provide correct and deliverable address information before shipping your rewards.
If the customer has not picked up the package or has given an incorrect address, and we have confirmation of delivery from the carrier, we will consider the reward to be delivered. We are unable to send parcels to PO boxes or military bases.
If you do not agree with these terms and conditions, we recommend waiting until the product is available in our online store or at a retail location.

Risks and challenges

We have been developing ChessOne since 2019. The Kickstarter campaign is just the culmination of our years of work on a product that is polished down to the smallest detail. Our supply chain, production line, and delivery system have already been tested, as have fully functional iChessOne prototypes that have been positively reviewed. We have the knowledge, the resources, and the team of specialists that together give us the confidence to deliver a perfectly crafted product on time. However, there is no project that doesn’t involve risk. There are always unexpected regulations or transport restrictions that can delay deliveries. It’s the same with calendar factors: local holidays and the associated stretches in suppliers’ capacity. Regardless, should any difficulties arise, we guarantee to keep you informed, to be fully transparent about the stages of the process, and to clarify any doubts.
